I love edgewood college! I chose to go here specially because of accsessability. I have chronic health disorders as well as mental health, and they have been more accommodating than any school! There's buses in the city, as well as a school shuttle. You can also apply for a parking pass There's an endless limit to what food you can get, and it's inexpensive! If you want the top meal plan that gives you around 2-3 meals a day, it's $200 a semester, which is the same price for one grocery trip out of the year! The classes are tiny and within short distance from another, as someone with chronic pain and fainting this was a big thing for me! I am able to make it to my classes. Edgewood is a private 4 year college, so it is pricey. But in my option, it's worth it. It's looks good on an application and it's a great experience to have! They are accepting of every race, gender, sexuality, and disability! They even require you to take classes to learn about minority groups! All in all, Edgewood is a great college to attend, especially if you want to pursue nursing, education, or are disabled like me.

I love every minute of nursing school here at Edgewood. There were certainly extremely challenging aspects in the second session of the 6 session long program for the ABSN Nursing program (January - December), however there is great exposure to nursing concepts relevant to my future career in nursing. Nursing clincials are excellent and what you make of it. Professors are passionate and supportive, for the most part. Outreach for students interested and newly enrolled in program need to be improved. When I moved to Wisconsin, I had no idea how to get around town. School clinicals are off location from campus and "outsiders" from outside of this state are left to fend for themselves not knowing enough about this foreign town. I knew nothing about Wisconsin, and this college did not provide enough information to help me with navigating a whole new city/state. Educational curriculum is rigorous and purposeful. The professors need to be careful not to flunk students just for the sake of holding people back. It would be great to provide remedation opportunities to support professional development and avoid students feeling stuck in a systemic institution where they can't afford tuition. Overall though, I love being here and am thankful for the educational opportunity.

Do not waste your time or money at this shithole. If you have a learning disability, you are screwed. Some of the professors are good but it gets overshadowed by the incredibly irresponsible administration that refuses to do their jobs. You have to beg staff to get off their lazy asses and do anything. They are some of the most unprofessional people I’ve ever met in my life. They couldn’t care less about their students. I should have left a long time ago. This place will suck the life out of you. Do not buy into the fake image that they portray. I am ashamed to be a student at this institution and I will never stop trying to expose the truth of what this place is really like. If you want to be in a place like this, I’d recommend prison instead. At least you don’t have to pay 30k a year to be treated like you’re not a human being. I never want anyone else to go through what I’ve dealt with here. This place needs to be shut down.

Edgewood College is where I feel most at home. The people here really want to be here, and if they find they don't want to be here they leave after the first year or semester. That's important and really helps create the perfect atmosphere. Classes are small, almost all of my classes are 20 students or less. The professors want what's best for their students and will always push us to reach our full potential. This isn't a place for people who just want to fly by, it's a place for people who have a genuine passion. Being in Madison also gives us so many opportunities for jobs, internships, projects, etc. I have no complaints. Now, keep in mind this is a liberal arts college so participation and communication is important. If you want to strictly specialize in one skill or career, this might not be your place. Reading some of the other reviews, I think some people forget this! This is a school that wants to give you a well rounded and broad education.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

    Knowing everything that I know now about college life, I would probably tell myself to really study hard in high school and to take as many AP classes as possible. I would also tell myself to be more open to change and to realize that everyone is going through the same thing that you are. They may be taking different classes and going for a different degree but they are still attending school, maybe working, maybe playing sports, so they are still juggling more than one thing at the same time. College life is a great way to meet new people and basically to start over where no one may know who you are. While you are in college, you grow into an adult. During this time, you learn and experience a lot of things that you did not in high school. I would also tell myself to not worry about the small thing, but to always look at the big picture. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow and hope that everything works out, sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. That's what life is all about, and college definatly helps with learning that.

    I do not consider anything about the school to be horrible. The costs are very high, which makes it extrememly difficult to afford, especially as a parent. I do not have the support of my parents and have a family of my own. I wish there was more support for people in that situation.

  4. Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

    I actually go to Lakeland College in Madison, WI. It was not a choice on the dropdown. It is an inviting atmosphere, which encourages education! The staff seem very eager to help and make education a priority. They are willing to help and are easily available for questions or concerns. My advisor was my first impression of the school. He helped with any questions I had. I felt comfortable in knowing that my goals in my career were just as important to him as they were to me. It has been a positive experience thus far!

    The quality of the services and materials available on-campus, the close social relationships with instructors due to the smaller class sizes, the excellent location of the campus in regards to the downtown Madison area.

    Edgewood College is Dominican affiliated and with my Catholic roots, that is one of the reasons why I chose Edgewood. When I came to Edgewood, I was very surprised at how action-oriented many of the on-campus groups are. Most students, before they graduate, will have done some type of service to better the communtiy- whether it's for a class, an on-campus organization, or just another Campus Activities Board event, there is always something to do and some way to get involved no matter who you are or what you believe.

    I believe that any person that is ready to learn and experience a great learning experience should attend this school. This school has a smaller campus and smaller class sizes, which makes it easier to locate classes, meet people, and communicate better with professors.

    Edgewood College is a liberal arts school located in the capital city of Wisconsin. A small campus located in a large city is the best combination available. Any person who wants to get a great education both in and out of the classroom would enjoy Edgewood College. The small classrooms are a great benefit to individuals attending Edgewood. Classroom participation and daily attendance are part of your grade. The city of Madison has a number of entertainment, athletic, and cultural events happening daily. Edgewood College sponsors events and activities in the Madison community.

    I believe that my school is best known for its small class sizes. Unlike a lot of other four year colleges, Edgewood's smaller class sizes really help with the learning experience and understanding. With smaller class sizes, students are able to communicate easier with their professor and other students.

    The best thing about Edgewood College would be the size. This is a private college which means there are small classes. I love small classes because it gives the students a chance to get one on one time with the professor. Also, because the professors know their students they find ways to teach things more effectively for everyone. I find it easier to succeed in smaller colleges versus the bigger ones.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
