What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
My college experience has given me the ability to get to know myself and how far I can push myself. I've learned how to manage my time to get my homework done, even after working 30 hours a week and taking care of myself and my responsibilities. I've been presented with my strengths and my weaknesses and an array of supporters who are willing to help me improve. I haven't had a lot of college time to experience, but if I continue to grow as a person as I have been, I think that the value is immeasurable.

Our school is more than likely best known for its football team. The Bronco's won their first fiesta bowl in 2007, which put them on the map, and they won again this year. So I'm pretty sure our school is best known for its football team.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Boise State happened to be less than an hour to both my parents' houses. It had church around the corner and my martial arts a little drive away. It gave me a pretty nice scholarship and had the Biology-Zoology major that I was looking for. I like school spirit and there couldn't be enough of that on BSU campus. I love attending the football games, that was an amazing part of BSU in the Fall. It's also a short walk to the grocery store and the theatre. So it was perfect for me.

Someone who is really in love with football would love this school. Other sports players seem like freshman teams and only football is varsity.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
Boise State is an awesome school! Students are intelligent, caring, kind and looking toward the future with great hope and determination. In our quest for excellence, the parking situation seemed to be overlooked. There aren't enough on campus parking spaces for those of us who drive. This affects our ease in getting around campus, making it more difficult to get from place to place than it should be. Since Boise State is getting increasingly popular, fixing the parking would be beneficial for everyone involved. GO BRONCOS!

I brag that in my school the teachers help every student succeed in their classroom, even if that means a few hours of tutoring outside of class. I also brag that I love it on the campus, because it is a safe and positive environment for all walks of life.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
A mixture of jocks and outdoors people. Both are very common on campus between our multiple varsity sports programs, our club and intramural sports programs, and our prime location in a great outdoors region.

What are the academics like at your school?
Professors and staff at BSU know your name and tend to know a lot about you. It's very easy to talk to your advisers and the professors at the school. A lot of this comes with the opportunity to do leadership retreats with certain professors. Class participation is common, you will be called out to answer questions, which helps you to develop your public speaking skills. I'm personally apart of the school of health sciences and we have various clubs like pre-med club that I spend extra time outside of advising with my adviser and fellow students. There are tons of clubs ran by students and professors that can accommodate just about any interest you might have. I started attending the pre-med club meetings even before I started attending school there since I opted to start in the spring. My adviser Glenda was very helpful and kept me up to date on gatherings to help get me involved.

What is your overall opinion of this school?
I absolutely love Boise State, they make you feel like family from the day you apply. My favorite thing so far is the faculty and advisers, they are all so very helpful and completely dedicated to your success at Boise State.If you've ever been to Boise I'm sure you noticed we're all very dedicated to our Broncos, on a typical game day just about everyone in town is wearing Bronco gear in support of our team. Where is the best place to get work done on campus?
There are quite a few places on campus that are great for studying. I usually go to the library. There are 4 or 5 floors, each equipped with lots of tables, study nooks, and private study rooms. This makes it really easy to find a quiet place to study. My next favorite place is the Interactive Learning Center. The bottom level consists of a convenience store, Einstein Bagel Bros, and the technology assistance center. The upper levels consist of classrooms and lots of couches, chairs and tables to study at. The layout is completely open, so it is very nice. I also like studying in the upstairs of the Student Union. It is really quiet and there are a lot of couches to choose from :)

What are the most popular student activities/groups?
On BSU's campus there are so many clubs and so many things to do. We have a club for just about everyone and their interest. If there isn't a club you want to join you can easily start one. We also have the recreation center which has group trips, rentals, a rock climbing wall, the gym, etc. I'm personally really interested in going on one of the night hikes with the rec center. Additionally I'm a part of the pre-med club, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), American Medical Student Association (AMSA), and I first learned about some of the volunteer opportunities from orientation. I personally spend a lot of my time volunteering and participating in webinars, meetings, etc to help me stay on the right track to accomplishing my goals. I'm looking forward to AMSA's annual convention which brings in well known health care providers to help us learn certain procedures, talk about admissions into medical school, and more. NSCS helps us to get involved, make a difference, use our skills to get scholarships for school, and then of course you have all the recreation that is offered by the school rather that be hiking, rafting, swimming, etc there are definitely things you can do on a Saturday night that doesn't involve drinking.

What are your classes like?
I am currently a new student at BSU. I haven't had the chance to sit in on my first class just yet, but I do have some information. Usually the classes you register for are fairly close or within the same general area of the campus. Most of mine are in Morrison Center, Math Center, etc. Since I have transferred to BSU it's obvious I will be spending a lot more time in class and for about 2-4 hours, 2-3 times a week per class. I used to have a seminar once a week and was pretty much on my own outside of that. It obvious at BSU you have more time with your professors and there are multiple channels to get a hold of them outside of class. The classrooms are pretty standard and clearly limit how many students will be in each class, which is good because you get a more attention during class and it's easier to connect with other students in your class.

Tell us about your professors.
Most of my professors have been excellent! I feel like Boise State really strives for high quality educators. My professors are all very nice. All through high school we were taught (at least I was) that college teachers are different from college professors. My teachers always told me that my college professors will not care if I succeed or not and they won't go out of their way to help me. The professors at Boise State have proved that statement wrong. I have had several teachers go out of their way to make sure that we were getting the help we needed in order to succeed. In one of my classes, all of us were really struggling with the professors quizzes. The format made them so hard and none of us were doing well. We confronted our professor and she changed the quizzes so that they were better for us. This is only one example of how Boise State professors strive to help us succeed.
