What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
What I have learned so far is to look at things in a whole new way. Architecture has a lot to deal with imagination and knowing that when done it will be a great building and that some happy family will be living in there. Its very nice to know what goes into a house or building works together perfectly to put a roof on a family or a group of people. Every little detail creates a building and to watch it slowly turn from nothing to a building is an amazing site. I really know that college is very hard at times but sticking with it will give you a great accomplishment and will change your life. I really wish to become and architect but i need help. I can not do this alone.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
When I brag to my friends about my school, I like to tell them that I get to attend a school that not only provides a great education, but is also spiritually uplifting. I have heard many people talk of the "Spirit of Ricks" but I never fully understood what that meant until I actually got here. BYU Idaho is a place to learn, grow and become a better person. It is full of opportunities to learn from inspired teachers and be influced by the thoughts and opinions of other students.

What kind of person should attend this school?
This school is great for anyone who is willing to follow the rules and dedicated to their education. Brigham Young University--Idaho does have diverstiy not only in race but also in socioeconomic status, age, and religion (although there is a majority religion). Personally, I would say that this is a great school for anyone seriously pursuing future education and who have a respect and understanding for rules that are set in place

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
I am a transfer student. My freshman year I went to a small comunity college, it was one of the hardest experiences of my life. I went through some pretty tough things while I was there. It was so bad I couldn't go back. Then I found BYU-I. I went on a tour there, it had the most amazing feeling to it. The people were warm and welcoming, something about this campus is special. It is completely different from the college I previously attended, it is an uplifting enviroment, it feels like home.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?
The most popular group is the Center Stage group, because they plan a lot of events for every week of the semester, and they give students the opportunity to learn more about cultures, and entertainment in diverse ways. There are parties every week. Because of the schools honor code, there are not drugs and alcohol involved in these parties which allows for sober and clean entertainment. You can go to some of the Center stage events on Saturday night, play a sport, go to a party, or just stay in your apartment to relax from your hard week at school. In relation to this, some of the activities you can do on a Saturday night are also off campus such as bowling, going to a movie, laser tag, indoor mini-golf, and even a drive-in movie screen. There are some things to do around here when you're not in school for hours on end.

What are the academics like at your school?
The classes are very good, and help students to achieve their goals. One class that I have personally enjoyed is the psychology 111 course, because they help students to understand the information instead of simply leaving the students to their own designs. The classes in general include lots of participation, but one class that has been a struggle is the math 108 course, because it is a hybrid class. We have class once a week, and the rest of the class is online. This causes more difficulty because I struggle getting the information and guidance that I need to learn more of the material. I don't spend much time with the instructors after class, but in the future I plan to involve myself more with the faculty and to gain more guidance from them. The students are pretty competitive in this school, and the positions for jobs are very difficult to find because they are filled by students. My major will focus on applying psychology in the business world and help others apply correct principles to their work ethic. This is why it is a more difficult major and occupation. This school provides some key resources for advancement in this type of occupation.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?
Yup. But it's not as exclusionary as it might seem. The diversity of the student body is low by anyone's standards, but in my observation, the students of other races and cultures aren't shunned simply because they look different. Some people may be put off by the school's homogeneity, but if one can look past the superficial differences and into the heart, they'll find a lot of true, VALUABLE differences.
