What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Don't get caught up in outside activities of college life, but be more concerned about your studies. Grades are important and the more knowledge you can take away from college the better prepared you will be when you get out into the working world. If you just apply yourself and use the tools available to you for success, you will succeed. Be determined! Always!

Describe the students at your school.
The students vary by campus. at the Marietta campus (which is a satellite campus on Southern Poly/ Kennesaw State campus) everyone goes to class then goes home. People do not usually mingle after class because they have jobs, and other responsibilities to attend to.Although we can live on dorm with SPSU students, students generally all live off campus. At other campuses , like Floyd and Cartersville, the students have more options as they are actually at a whole university. There are clubs, game rooms, basically everything at these campuses.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
That we are here because we didn't do well in high school or no other school would accept us, when in general its more about money than anything else. I got accepted into SCAD(Savannah College of Art and Design) however, its was very expensive, especially since I am paying for my college expenses alone, so here I am at GHC. Also, a lot of students are older adults going back to school or working mothers trying to get degrees.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most fustrating thing about Georgia Highlands is the lack of student life organizations. Given the demographic of the school, this probably has reasonable explanations behind it; however with more and more youth attending college than ever before, clubs and organizations should no longer be limited. The college experience is about defining yourself and making life-long lasting friends. The more involvement a student can have allows for more chances to meet people and learn about themselves.
