What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Do not worry, do not stress. College life is great and easy to make new, long lasting friends. The classes we take are not only meant to educate and prepare us for the outside world, but to allow us to grow more as a person, which is what really matters. Working hard in college is important, but stressing about it ahead of time is not good. Have fun, work hard, and the ending outcome will be whatever we want it to be.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
I feel like Whitworth is a bubble, and a lot of the kids have not faced reall ife problems. The Christian aspect of the school probably has a lot to do with it. I feel like there is not enough diversity, and i'm not talking strictly about ethnic diversity.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about Whiworth is the food and the recent construction on campus. The food is like any cafeteria food perhaps a little better, but if you tend to be conscientious about what goes into it, you may want to have an alternative place to eat. The construction makes it a little hard to sleep in on days when you have late classes.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I had known how difficult it would be to be away from my family, friends, and the place I had called home for 18 years. I would have worked harder on appreciating the life I lived back home, and how different--not good, not bad, just different--life would be in Spokane at school.

Describe your favorite campus traditions.
We have a very strong Christian emphasis here and it influences factors in to everything we do at Whitworth. Some Christian perspective is discussed in almost every class and although the students do not need to be Christian to attend, all the professors have signed statements of faith and are Christian. Whitworth's moto is "an education of mind and heart" and they truely focus on giving you the tools to create a wonderful future full of success and service to God and humanity.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Whitworth is unique because it is a smaller school. Because it is a smaller school it has a very strong community and you get very personal attention from your teachers. This is very helpful because it continually keeps you focused on the things that are important, your education and your life. This school also has a very strong community of Christian believers, which is very helpful. I believe that it is important to surround yourself with believers and this school provides many oppurtunities to do that. There are also many internships and study abroad programs available at Whitworth University.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I'd say that the stereotype for Whitworth students is that we are very conservative/religious and into academics. I've also heard some students from other schools label us as 'white rich kids' and 'non-partyers'.

What do people really wear to class?
Not gonna lie, it's a bit dressier than what I had anticipated. Most students try to look, at very least, like they tried to put something together that matched. Most girls accessorize, even when wearing sweats, but in the 8AM's you'll see students that looked like they rolled out of bed and threw on a sweater.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?
The most popular activities are probably Primetimes. Primetimes are put on every night in each dorm's lounge and feature anything from glow in the dark frisbee and scavenger hunts to Yoga and P90X. Sporting events are pretty big, and parties are usually only off campus...at least the ones that involve illicit substances.

Describe your school to someone who's never heard of it.
Whitworth is the perfect combination of low-key small school feel and larger school activity options. The people are kind, considerate, and friendly (you even get doors held for you everywhere you go), and the overall atmosphere can only be described as coffee shop meets summer camp. The classes are small enough that students go to coffee with their professors, and the profs themselves are incredibly knowledgeable and active in their fields. The campus is beautiful and well kept with trees surrounding the campus and creating what we Whitworthians call the "pinecone curtain" (just don't forget to look into the outside world every once in awhile). Overall, an amazing place with awesome opportunities! :)

There isn't one. Whitworth is a non-Greek school. No frats or sororities on campus. We go to WSU for that.
