Eddie

The sense of community that is present at WSU. WSU is in a college town, meaning there are mainly only the college students in the area. This is amazing because wherever you go, you will feel at home. I say you will feel at home because you will make close friends to where after a while, it will feel like they are your family. Small class sizes Most of the classes are small which helps us learn better. This is completely different compared to other big universities.

Washington State lies within a small college town. The university itself is huge, but you also get the atmosphere of a college town. Everywhere around Pullman, Washington is all about the Cougars, so you really enter in to a familly that is nation wide.

The wonderful thing about Washington State University is its location in the small town of Pullman. Here in Pullman everywhere you turn, look up, down, all around, are cougar heads. Welcome to the college town! Pullman is, more or less, in the middle of "nowhere land", but there is plenty for you to do while visiting or attending school. Another fantastic quality of WSU is the school spirit. Once a Coug, always a Coug! Alumni still visit consistently and support the University endlessly and cougars are pretty much pumped up about everything to do with WSU and sports.

Jacqueline

My school is large in the amount of students, but because of it's location, it feels like a family. Everyone smiles and says hello, holds doors open for other people, recognizes people from their classes around campus. Its the best feeling to know when you leave home to come to school, you are coming to see your other family, your other home.

Washington State is distinguishable from other universities in different ways. Academically, this is a research-based college with many of the professors involved in their own work on top of teaching classes. Having a research college allows attending students to have many opportunities to be employed by the faculty and gain valuable experience in their field of interest. Also, there is a large and supportive community associated with Washington State. The alumni continue to stay loyal well after they graduate, and even individuals who live in the surrounding area love to support the university?s sports, students and facilities.

[Note, that I refer to the Tri-City campus of WSU, not Pullman] Washington State University is home for me. There is a gentle blend of culture and age so that incoming freshman aswell as older students returning to academia get the same experience as the real world: every day we interact with people of different color, age, and background. A professor of mine taught me that the main difference between high school and college is that every class, every semester, and everyday you are surrounded by people you do not know. Every moment is an oppertunity to know someone.
