Wake Technical Community College is a good community college for students who are trying to pursue their goals. There are various opportunities for students to participate in events and/or groups. Some events I've been to include their fall festival, their drive-in movie, cultural appreciation (where they brought various food, artifacts, art, and clothes from various regions around the world), sex education, free book "sale", Palestine and politics conversation/debate, and more. Furthermore, as a woman, they have various places where you can get feminine products for free when you need them which has been very helpful for me due to my irregular cycle. Moreover, I've had good interactions with campus security. One time, my car broke down in the winter and I was unable to get home (which is over an hour away) and I couldn't get a jump. While I was waiting for my dad to come pick me up, campus security would check in every 20 minutes or so and would do what they could to help. Among other things, many of my experiences at Wake Tech have been smooth. The faculty are knowledgeable and willing to help students in need.

Wake Tech is a great school! It's a community college, so students don't live on campus, they commute. There are many different types of students here, from those who are working and doing technical programs to those who are just fresh out of high school to even College Promise students who are dual enrolled in Wake Tech and high school courses. It's amazing the diversity that the student body has and most professors are great. As an online student, I have nothing but good things to say about their platform. It's organized, professors communicate well, and everything is usually pretty organized. I will say that this does depend on the professor you have though, because they have a lot of free reign over their classes. This can sometimes mean that you have deadlines all throughout the week for four different classes, which can be difficult to manage at times, but if you have good professors you'll be fine and the workload is manageable. Be sure to look up professors on RateMyProfessor to make sure you get someone who knows what they're doing and is passionate about their subject matter. Every school can have teachers who don't really care or put in the time for their students, but my experience largely at Wake Tech is that most professors care a lot and go out of their way to help you so long as you communicate. They also have a lot of services, athletics, student organizations, diverse programs, multiple locations across the Wake County area, and are really committed to diversity and inclusion. Overall, it's a great school, super affordable with lots of financial aid available and help provided throughout the enrollment process, and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

I've been in Wake Technical Community College's program for the past four years, and I can confidently say it has not been wasted. I have enjoyed nearly every single class I have been a part of, and FREE classes for North Carolina HS students is a huge blessing. Additionally, their facilities and faculty are top-notch, and I have felt safe every time I've stepped on their many campuses. Overall, I would highly recommend Wake Technical Community College to anyone pursuing an Associate's degree or certification in their field of study.

It's great but it definitely has it's pros and cons. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to try college without necessarily committing, if that makes sense. Their academics are wonderful and they have something for everyone. There is not any on-campus housing, but there are lots of things surrounding the multiple campuses. (Including housing, food, and so much more!)

    Dear highschool self, You are not a freak, not broken, not damaged. You have Asperger's Syndrome and, while you don't think like other people and you see the world differently than they do, embrace that. Being an Aspie need not be a disadvanage. It is up to you to choose your path in life. College may get hard, and you will experience bumps in the road that others won't understand, but you also have a gift for finding patterns and for out-of-the-box thinking that let's you find solutions no one else can. Also, you don't have to be alone. There are people out there that will appreciate your differences and see the wonder of what you are. They are rare, like precious diamonds, but they exist and are worth finding. They can help you understand the world and succeed in college and all of your other endeavors. Be proud, younger self. Be brave. Take chances and dare to fail. Fear and confusion will be your worst enemy, but they only have the power that you give them.

  5. What's unique about your campus?

    Wake Tech is a very good school. They have very knowledgable staff and will work with you one on one if you need additional help. The transfer program which I am taking, allows you to be very flexible and take the courses that benefit you the most and will help you get into the university of your choice. Wake Tech offers courses in most fields of work. The school offers tons of technical training which gives you hands on experience. Wake Tech would make a great school for any and all ages, at any professional level.

    My community college is different from other schools because it is cheaper, it's within a reasonable distance from my house, the classes are great, and they have services to help struggling students, and most of all I can transfer my credits to any college in the state of North Carolina!

    The person capable of succeeding is the kind of person who should attend this school. Wake Technical Community College is focused on providing students, regardless of age, race, or any other socioeconomic identifier, the means to attain their academic goals. For me personally, Wake Tech has enabled me to save money on my decade-long journey to finally acquiring my Bachelors degree. The same can be said for many other individuals that I have come into contact with while at Wake Tech. The type of person who strives to succeed is the one who should attend this school.

    The most frustrating thing about my school at this point in time is that I can't be there every day! I attended a community college fresh out of high school, and I was not ready to learn. I didn't want it or think I needed it. I was smart, and I had the world available to me at the time. I wanted to explore, get out of my small home town, get a taste of the realy world. Now that I've done that I know that school is, now, the right place for me to be.

    The worst thing about his school is the image that it gives off to the general public. Most view Wake Tech as a school where "losers" or "failures" go when they have no other options. This is not even close to true because many people, including myself, go to a school like Wake Tech for financial reasons.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
