just to keep it simple, stay focused and dont let anyone try to stop you
Tierra
Dear Tierra,
I know you are about to embark on a new journey. This next phase of your life is very important as you will be growing into an adult and will no doubt encounter some obstacles. Be prepared to face them with a strong heart and always stay focused on your success. Make sure that all of the decisions that you make are ones that will benefit you now and in your future; ones that will get you to the next level in your life. Learn as much as you can learn, but remember that good grades aren't the only thing that you will need once you graduate. Be proactive before you graduate and really think about what direction you want your life to take post graduation. Get involved in as many things as possible and don't be afraid of anything. You are strong and extremely determined to do well, and you will, no matter how long it may take. But Tierra, as serious as life can be, college is not just about studying and straight A's. Remember to have fun, enjoy yourself and live your life.
With love always,
Your future self

Parents and future college graduates, in order to make the most of your college experience you must be mindful of the career path you want to take, and make sure that the university offers the specific field you are interested in. Once you are accepted, it is imperative to stay focused and have essential time-management skills; one most prioritize no matter what, without being caught up in less-important things. In addition, one must make short-term and long-term goals to allow him or her to stay driven. The most important key to remember is to work first, play later. There is no need to procrastinate when your education on the line. Remember to shoot for the moon to land among the stars!

pick what is best for you. Try to get out of your comfort zone. Try new things but not things that will harm you. Be safe and look at your surrondings. Try to join organization and study study study.

I would say do your research on the school. Make sure you know how much the school you want to go to cost and be aware that tuition may go up each year so you have to be prepared for that also. Also make sure you keep all reciepts and documentations from the school. Everyone makes mistakes and it seems that colleges make the most when it comes to money! To parents, make sure your child stays focus and check up on your child once in a while, maybe not everyday but every other day or two. It might seem smothering but ask your child questions, "What are you studying in class now"? "How did you do on your last test"? To students, make sure you dont get to caught up in the social life to the point where you cant manage time for school work. Make charts if necessary, it will come in handy, in college there is alot of time, spend it wisely. And to both, make sure at orientation you ask questions you will find out alot of interesting facts. Make the best of you college life, they are the best years of life. TRUST ME!

First your child should be self directed let them make their own decisions and be the best support group that you can be for them. It is their life and a child entering college knows that they want better for themselves all they need is a little reassurance that the decision is perfect for them. You don't want them questioning themselves whether or not it is really their choice to attend a college or university. Make sure that your child has a specific goal in mind, many students enter college not knowing what they want to do with their lives and that just makes it more stressful. Find a college or university that gives you plenty of options and also challenges them. Most importantly make sure your child finds a comfortable environment where you think they will be challenged and come out successful. The choice that your child makes is the choice that will affect them for the rest of their life and yours. Be certain that they know what they want to do with their life will make the whole process smoother for everyone involved.

-Go and visit the campus
-speak with other students that already attend so that you can gather many different views of the school!

As a Student Ambassador at my school, I try to inform prospective students and their parents that they should always weigh their options. Visiting all of the schools they are considering should always be what helps them decide which school is right for them. These visits always give the student the "this is it for me" feeling that they need.
