What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
The stereotype is that the students at USF are spoiled and without much motivation. The stereotype is a half-truth. The reality is that USF is very diverse so there are a lot of different kinds of people from varying backgrounds and social norms. In the heart of San Francisco, most kids smoke marijuana but aren't considered stoners necessarily because it is common. The average g.p.a has risen significantly in the past years, so it's more competitive than people assume.

What is your overall opinion of this school?
After four years of being at USF, I feel that it accepts an eclectic group of students into its University. I've made some interesting friendships with people I'd never expect through clubs such as Alpha Phi Omega & Hui O Hawaii.
Academically, USF provides a pretty well-rounded core curriculum with emphasis on service learning and social justice. We're one of the only schools that offers Philippine Studies as a major and a minor.
I do have my reservations on how the school spends its money though. It amazes me that they have all this money, time and effort to make a statue of two wolves in front of our library and place plasma TVs in study rooms, while the science majors have to sit in these really old laboratories that are ancient compared to other places on campus.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?
The great thing about USF is that everyone pretty has much does their own thing. Since we are centered literally in San Francisco there is SO MUCH to do on the weekends. In the morning, you could be volunteering your time to clean up Golden Gate Park then have lunch on Clement eating some yummy Dim Sum, do homework at a little cafe on Geary and then be out enjoying the nightlife in downtown.
There are so many service-based organizations like Alpha Phi Omega (co-ed service fraternity) that I am a part of and cultural orgs like Hui O Hawaii that just help facilitate this getting to know the area kind of thing.
As far as sports are concerned, I'm not a big sports buff & while there is somewhat a lack of Dons spirit on campus the athletes play hard regardless. Or so I've heard.

What kind of person should attend this school?
The type of person that should attend this school should like small classrooms, cold weather, independence and be career focused. Also, the prospective student must like close relationships with all of the students. Prospective students should like having a good relationship with professors as they are very attentive. Prospective students should also like public transportation as this school is in a large city. A student who would like to attend USF should be able to afford the cost of living as a San Francisco resident.

What are the academics like at your school?
I've been fortunate to have had teachers that are both inspirational and easy to approach especially in my Philippine studies courses. There have probably been one or two teachers that have put a damper on my my college experience.
When its time to register for classes, be sure to talk with previous students rather than rely on rate my professor.
Overall, the classes here attempt to engage you in every way possible and for the most part challenge you to do more than just learn.

Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
USF is expensive, but overall I feel that it is worth it. I have never had a problem getting my classes, I feel supported by my teachers and peers, the environment is beautiful and the city is exciting.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
THE WORST THING ABOUT MY SCHOOL IS THE OFF CAMPUS LIVING. MY UNIVERSITY IS LOCATED IN SAN FRANCISCO, SO ONCE YOU ARE LOOKING TO FIND YOUR OWN APARTMENT, NOT ONLY IS IT EXTREMLEY DIFFICULT, BUT IT IS ALSO INSANELY EXPENSIVE. MY SCHOOL DOES TRY TO HELP STUDENTS WITH FINDING A PLACE TO LIVE, BUT THEIR HELP IS TRIVIAL. ALTHOUGH, IT DOES GIVE THE STUDENT A STRONG SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY AND PERSERVERENCE BECAUSE YOU CANNOT GIVE UP WHEN LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO LIVE. JUST LIKE ANYTHING, IT HAS ITS UPS AND DOWNS.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
This school has an awesome reputation for education and is well respected in the professional community of prospective employers. This school is hard because of it's reputation for challenging students to their full potential. This school is very diverse in it's education and the students who attend there. University of San Francisco has excellent acedemic advisors to help students get through their programs. This school also has an outstanding financial aid headquarters to help students figure out ways to pay for their degrees. USF is providing me with courage, hope, determination, committment, willingness, and faith to succeed.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The staff only knows how to contact another person rather than try to stick with you along the way if you have a problem. They are too focused on their own lives to care about the students unless they are constantly reminded.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
It's not all flowers in your hair happiness all the time. USF challenges me in more ways than one, and can be extremely difficult at times. I also had no idea how foggy and chilly it would be, so don't choose USF based on weather (I thought it it'd be better than Seattle).

I love the diversity that my school has. I have friends who are from different parts of the world and it's interesting to see that my school is such a melting pot. I walk onto campus and see groups that vary a lot but what is special is that everyone is accepting. It's a fairly small school so it makes everyone a lot closer. I like the tight knit, but diverse community that USF has, because of that, I learn so much from everyone. It is something that I didn't notice at any other campus but USF.

What's unique about your campus?
The people that go to and work at USF is the best thing about the school. The diversity range and friendliness of the school amazes many people, including me. Everyone always has a smile on his or her face and the staff would go through so many things to help their students. The chance of not making any friends at USF is none. When other people smile, I smile!

My school is best known for its ability to appeal to people of multiple nationalities, religions, and backgrounds. USF is one of the few universities in our country with a rich diversity consisting of students from all over the state, country, and world. With all those people coming together under one institution comes many opportunities to gain perspective of what makes each of us unique. From a foundation built by Jesuits, USF utilizes its student body to its advantage and encourages to build bonds that will last a lifetime.

A studious and ambitious student should attend this university. The school has a mission derived from Jesuit Catholic values. In addition to earning a degree, the university recommends using my profession in promoting social justice across the world. Other qualities that a person should have in attending USF is love, compassion, respect and a strong will to help those less fortunate.

Why did you decide to go to this school?
I came to this school for several reasons. It was a great size, small enough for your teachers to know you but big enough that there are always new people to meet. It also had a large variety of majors, perfect for me because I am terrible at making commitments, so it ensured that I had a lot of options in case my first choice turned out to be a bad fit for me. It also is in a great location, San Francisco is a huge city with plenty of things to do and if you ever get tired of being here, there is plenty to go do around the entire bay area. And also this school is ranked pretty high in the country, which made my parents and myself really happy.

Tell us about the sports scene on campus.
There are many club and intramural sports which are very fun to participate in. Our recreation center also has many possibilites such as pickup basketball, swimming, games, racquetball, etc. The main collegiate teams are basketball and soccer which are very fun to attend.

What's the Greek scene like?
There is no Greek scene. People pining for the typical, all-American college experience should probably look elsewhere. USF is relatively low on school spirit.
