What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Jenna

There is little sense of school spirit, it does feel like a real college. I transferred after my freshman year to UCCS but I wish I had stayed where I was orgionally going to school. My college experience was not what I was expecting by means of non-academic standards. However, I enjoyed by classes and many of my professors in my degree.

That college was really a big difference from the high school life. You should really read the material because many test questions come from there and not your notes. The amount of time I spent studying. To have an active social life you hav to leave your comfort zone and put yourself out there. Waiting til the last minute is not a smart idea in college. Team work is a big one. People skills are something you must have. Be ready for group work and tons of it.

When I first went to college, I really wish I had known a better way to purchase books for cheaper. There is the school book store and I knew about a few online websites that rent and sell used books. It is all about getting the best deal and saving as much as a student can. I would also have helped to know that if the class really was not going to use a certain book, then we should not have to purchase it. I bought three extra books that I never even opened. Fortunately, people learn from the past.

I wish I would have known that to be eligible for in state tuition I needed to not only be living here for a year but actually be paying for my own rent. My parents were helping me but they lived in North Carolina. So even though I lived here a year I still am paying out of state tuition.
