It's a great school with great facilities and academics. I feel they are lacking in some academic areas by not offering certain major programs, like statistics for example, but overall the selection is good. Pensacola isn't a small town, but it's not a big city either, and I think UWF offers good education and a wide array of programs considering the area, and they do it at an affordable price, especially for in-state students. The culture there is great as well. There are political liberals and conservatives that attend and teach at the school, but I'd say the environment leans more politically left. I'm rather conservative, and I don't feel comfortable enough to vocally share my political opinions there out of fear that a liberal professor will give me worse grades out of spite, or that the college will try and oust me somehow out of spite for my views, BUT no one there is really shoving their ideology down my throat, even if they're more vocal about it than I am.

A great school in a great area. The Academics are great, and anyone can contact the professors. Like all schools, there are some lousy teachers, but as a whole, the school is great. I recommend anyone to come here to Pensacola! The sports as well are national championship caliber.

I absolutely adore the University of West Florida. It is an amazing school with a beautiful campus and excellent community. The professors are always willing to help and the students are welcoming. Something is always happening on campus and anyone can get involved. It is a bit on the smaller side which means you can have a real relationship with your peers and professors. There are hiking paths, a pool, a great gym, a rock wall, group fitness classes, and so many other things to do. It is such a fantastic school. I cannot imagine being anywhere else.

Elizabeth - 11/26/2019

It is a wonderful college with a beautiful campus that I hope I will soon be able to join. The academic opportunities are wonderful and there are plenty of recreational activities for people who don't want to get involved competitively. Overall, it is an incredible campus.

  3. What's unique about your campus?

The University of West Florida is a relatively small state university with a student population of roughly ten thousand students. The University uses this to ensure small class sizes, personalized learning, and that no student will fall through the cracks. The transition from high school to college is never easy and, thanks to the massive amounts of free time associated with college life, tends to cause students to fall behind. The UWF understands how overwhelming this change can be, and does its best to ensure that students are all provided for to reduces failure rates.

  5. What kind of person should not attend this school?

I think this school is fit for anyone who is willing to put in the effort in their studies, prepared to study at least 20 hours a week. Definetly someone who is able to stay focused; that is not only at the University of West Florida, but at other post- secondary schools also.

  7. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

The University of West Florida is unique to me because it is a local school where I grew up. It is a pretty big school but it has no football team up until last year when they started to make one. The campus has nature trails and disk golf courses which appeal to me because I like being outside. Not many schools that I looked at have nature trails.

  16. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

In all of my years being at The University of West Florida I have never really seen any Jocks or geeks or people that you can identify as frat. The people that are on the baseball, basketball or soccer teams are involved in other clubs as well. The president of a fraternity was on my mock trial team and I did not know that he was in a fraternity until someone else on my team mentioned it. I do know of so people that smoke weed but I would not qualify them as stoners. Since my school has an assortment of students everybody gets a chance try anything.

  17. What is your overall opinion of this school?

The University of West Florida is a great school. I consider it a small school but my major is History so my classes are small, it's nice because everyone can participate and we're not all fighting to get noticed. The campus is large and hilly, it is very easy to get your daily exercise by walking across the campus. I would say the best thing about the school is the teachers they know your name and they work with you. The only significant complaint is about parking spaces, a lot of people commute and those spots fill up fast.

  19. What are the academics like at your school?

I love that my school offers night classes, it's great for people that work during the day or people that are night owls. All of my classes are fun but my favorite class would probably be Cold War and Film. It is a night class so the teacher assigned a group to bring food. It's awesome! In all of my classes participation is mandatory which I love because the more questions we ask the more we learn. My major is History and it is not the biggest department so the students are on first name basis with their teachers. The advisor is really cool and she went to the school too so she tells us what to expect from classes. I don't have any classes that I don't like I just have classes that require more time and effort to stay on top.
