From my previous experience, I consider Miami Dade College a good community college with more affordable prices than some other universities nearby. I believe Miami-Dade college is a good place to obtain your 2 year associates degree, and then transfer to a university if interested. I think if you are having trouble paying more expensive universities, I believe Miami-Dade college may provide cheaper options for you as a student to get started.

Miami Dade College is overall a great college that gives you the starting tools to pursue to a higher degree. As a high school student, this college has motivated me to give my best toward my educational future from an early start. Participating in dual enrollment with Miami Dade College has helped me both academically and personally by helping me to get ahead in my studies while gaining valuable college/life experience.

Since it is a community college, there isn't much to do since a lot of people would go home after class, but to the people that stay, everyone is laid back and rest in the various hang-out areas that the campus has to offer. I stay in the Homestead campus and there is a great cafe that serves really good breakfast and lunch options. Overall, my experience has been very chill and relaxing, other for when I'm stressed over midterms and finals.

Miami Dade College is a highly respected educational institution with a reputation for offering a wide variety of academic programs and resources. My visit to the campus left a strong positive impression on me, as I found it to be a vibrant and welcoming environment that is well-suited to fostering both personal and academic growth. The facilities are modern and well-maintained, reflecting the college’s commitment to providing its students with the best possible educational experience. However, one notable downside is the lack of on-campus housing. For students who live outside of Miami or who would prefer the convenience of living on campus, this can present a significant challenge. On-campus housing offers students not only proximity to their classes and campus resources but also the chance to build a closer-knit community with their peers. The absence of this option may require some students to seek housing off-campus, which can add logistical and financial stress, particularly for those unfamiliar with the area. Despite this drawback, Miami Dade College remains an attractive option for me. I value the opportunities it provides in terms of its academic offerings and the overall campus experience. I have not yet enrolled but am planning to do so next year, and I am excited about the chance to become part of the Miami Dade community. Overall, the college’s strengths outweigh the lack of housing, and I look forward to pursuing my education there.

  11. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

    One thing I wish I had known before coming to Miami-Dade is that I would not get the American Dream Scholarship because my grant would pay for all of my tuition. If I had known this I would have tried harder to fix my situation at FIU so I could take Asian Studies. I also wish that I knew that Miami-Dade didn't have Japanese as a language to study because that was my main area of interest.

    Any one can attend this school. They offer online classes as well as on campus classes. They also offer help to those with disabilities and those with children. They have various campuses around Miami so everyone can attend. Miami Dade College is also known to be one of the top colleges in Florida. Most students are graduating with their A.A. and going to top notch Universities. This is a college anyone can attend and know that their future will be bright.

  13. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

    The most frustrating thing about my institution is their Financial Aid Office. The fact that they are always losing important documents, such as copies of citizenship or Tax Return Transcripts, it's really upsetting and disappointing. Also, when they give false approvals telling students: "Yes, your FASFA is completed; nothing is missing." Afterwards, your first day of class arrives and you discover your classes were dropped. That's what happened to my mother who is also enrolled. They are very inconsistent with what they communicate. The best financial aid assistance is given by academic advisers and financial specialists with appointments.

    I find that depending on the campus, the academic levels can change however in all aspects, the college offers a vast selection of courses making it easy to maintain your academic appetite active, attentively excited for class selections.

  15. What is your overall opinion of this school?

    MDC is the largest college in the world. Seriously. It was formally Miami Dade Community College, but became Miami Dade College when it created a bachelors of science degree in medicine. There are a lot of campuses, such as North Campus, Wolfson Campus, Kendall Campus, Medical Campus, etc., and if you're looking for a different type of Miami experience, pick the campus. Wolfson is personally my favorite because it is in the middle of Downtown Miami, next to Bayfront, where all kinds of people exist and move fluidly through the campus. A person could gain a lot of experience from the sheer amount of diversity of students on that campus alone. As anyone will guess, Miami is not a "college town." It's probably one of the top 3 most internationally known US cities in the world. According to a Nigerian friend of mine on campus, he said Nigerians only know three cities in the US: New York, Hollywood, and Miami. All kinds of events happen in Miami. Among my favorite is the Miami International Book Fair, where exceptional authors and publishing companies hold seminars and sell books right in the middle of Wolfson campus. Miami is proud of MDC, but the students aren't necessarily touting it like those of UF might or FSU. And it is largely just a community college, where the efforts and beauty of the college lie in its development of the Miami Community as a whole. It's not a serious scholar's delight, most of the time. You'll find some exceptional professors, but the vast majority of them are average. There is an Honors College at MDC. It's two years, free, and the students go to exceptional schools afterward. On North Campus alone, 7 graduates went to Cornell University. The Honors College is not exactly tough, depending on your major and who you are, of course. But it is the most "college" like experience on any of the five campuses. Overall, I love MDC. The college is great for the community, and I love the community.

    Student Government is very active with Miami Dade. I constantly see them fund raising and promoting activities and participation within the student body.

    Students at Miami Dade aren't expected to express an interest in their academic advancement because most of the students come from a difficult background. This stereotype is inaccurate because all students at Miami Dade are thriving.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible.
