The teachers were amazing. You could tell they love what they do and are good at it. The school is very nice and historic looking on the outside but updated on the inside. The science labs were very nice and we were able to do lots of experiments. They had a commuter room with fridges and tables which was nice to be able to keep food in there and study and do homework between classes.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about TWU is a lack of university traditions. In the past, there seemed to be a lot of "school pride" that is completely absent from the school today. The school is also spread out between 3 campuses: Denton, Dallas and Houston, TX. I wish the university had more traditions, more advertising and a chancellor who is connected with the students.

  9. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I started feeling pretty good about college and then the semester started. There was no parking and I didn't know anyone in my classes. The main thing that took my by surprise was the syllabus. Usually, in high-school I would just look at it the first week and throw it away. Do not do that in college. This packet of paper is your life for that class and will tell you every thing you need to know and when all the due dates are. I didn't do that and it took me by surprise.

  15. What are the academics like at your school?

The academics at Texas Woman's University is very strict. The administration really wants their students to succeed in this future profession; from that they want the students t work for it. The professors are amazing when it comes to caring for their students. The professors know that most of their students, at least the science professors, are going into the nursing program. This particular program is the most competitive program at the university for the nursing school only allow the best to be allowed to go to nursing school. Because of this, the science teachers work personally with the students,if the students want, to help succeed in this dreams. Most of the professors, if not all, truly care about their students, for the students at this university is a person and not just a number like larger universities. Now the students do have to work really hard to get into this particular program, but once the students are in, they are almost guaranteed an amazing experience becoming a nurse as well as a job once they graduate from nursing school. What makes this particular nursing school so much more superior than others is the nursing students work all over the DFW community and the hospitals see how dedicated they are and many of them are offered jobs before even graduating. Whats even better, is most of the programs that this university has to offer work really similar to the nursing program, which makes this university so great.

  17. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Some of the most popular groups are of course the traditional fraternities and sororities, but so are the other organizations that may be solely based on your degree field. Any organization or group can be just as popular as another, depending on who you ask. Because I am a married woman with 2 daughters, I do not pay attention to the partying or the dating scene. I come in, do my work, talk to people and go home. There are events that are held continuously throughout the year, so every event or activity that is considered fun have to deal with drinking alcohol.

  18. What are your classes like?

My classes are big and small but the atmosphere is always the same. The professors engage all the students and make an effort to include everyone in all topics so that no one feels left out and everyone can be as successful as they want to be.

  19. Why did you decide to go to this school?

There is a lot of reasons for choosing TWU. First, its close to my hometown. I'm only an hour away from Denison so its easy to go home when I want. Secondly, I chose TWU because of the great price of tuition. Tuition at other schools, even private schools could range from 5-30 thousand a year, and TWU is only $3,000! Also, my tuition was cut in half because I applied and was awarded $12,000 in financial aid, so instead of $3,000 I only pay $1,500 a semester. TWU is a great choice because the campus is so beautiful, inside and out! The classrooms are very up to date and very nice. The campus itself is just a beautiful place to walk around. TWU was my top choice because of the academics also! TWU ranks as one of the best schools for medical fields and since I'm going to Physical Therapy, it was a no brainer. I definitely don't regret my choice and recommend TWU to anyone!
