The University is beautiful, but it better be for how expensive it is. I wish I would have taken the price into more consideration instead of how cool I would be being a Hatter. The class sizes are very small compared to large Universities which is my favorite aspect of Stetson. Some of the professors are really accessible and there for you, while others are disorganized and you have to almost fight them just for an email back. The best advice I could give you is to check "Rate my Professor.com" before registering for classes. Overall, the classes are rigorous so be prepared to study. The people are nice and it is very easy to make friends there. It is a good school if you get a good scholarship, but if you do not have a good scholarship then go somewhere else. It will not be worth the debt.

Stetson University is a great place to be, setting around the school as wonderful. Everybody gets along and knows how to work together. I visit the campus once and I just feel in love with the people and at the vibes it’s campus gave off. Walking around the school and seeing everything was amazing also.

As a commuting student, I believe Stetson University is a wonderful place to learn and live. The campus is a very friendly environment and allows people in with open arms. It's a small private college in downtown DeLand, Florida with shops nearby within walking distance!

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

After experiencing two years in college I would have given myself the advice to get started early. I was in the International Baccalaureate program at my high school, but it would have been useful to lend more of my time to internships or Dual Enrollment classes at the local state college. By the time I had graduated high school I knew how to write a good essay and analyze a piece of text like it was no big deal, however, I witnessed several Dual Enrollment students walk across the stage at graduation with an associate degree. I want to attend graduate school to become a research biologist and if I had spent my high school years to get ahead I could be a college graduate with a bachelor's degree already pursuing a higher degree. I would have given myself the advice to not wile away my high school years, but put them toward bettering myself and achieving my long term goals.

  6. What kind of person should attend this school?

The type of person that should attend this school is rich and smart. Many of the students in the school have the latest and greatest of everything, ipads, iphones, pretty much anything that is Apple related. They also take about money and items like it doesn't mean anything to them. I am not rich, nor talk about money like it's not a big deal. I have found a few people like me on campus, but there are very few.

  11. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating aspect of Stetson University is the high tuition cost due to it being a private institution. I don't feel that there should be a price put on the quality of education. A student should be able to afford to attend their choice of University, soley based on their academic interest and their credentials as well as their contribution to their schools community. The student in the institution becomes a product of quality education for a much higher price rather than for their qualifications which they provide to the school.

  15. What are the academics like at your school?

Professors not only know your name but will ask why you weren't in class. True story my Teacher told a student "Oh you decided to join us today" after he had missed two classes that week Name and told him the notes are posted on blackboard. We have a test Monday better get studying and if you need any help send me an email. As i saw him do for any student i thought may be falling behind. MIS was my favorite class the professor was straight forward made the class fun and tied in his personal stories to his teachings. My least favorite class was basic marketing i thought the teacher talked to much about sports and not enough about marketing. Students study 10/ a week maybe more. Class participation is a must very rare you don't at least once in class whether in a group or class project. The students at stetson i have found are very intellectual in the way they talk and carry themselves. A conversation could last for hours. I am a business administration major. Yes i actually worked out with one of my professors being in the gym at the same time. I find the school geared more toward getting a job as i have experience in the real world business aspect being a leasing professional for an apartment complex top seller. I noticed allot of the business aspect talked about in class are exactly the same as when i worked for Concord management A very highly regarded Company.

  16. What is your overall opinion of this school?

I do enjoy attending Stetson University. The best thing about this school, hands down is the faculty! If I could change one thing about Stetson it would be the amount of administrators the school has. There are way too many in my opinion, and their salaries take away from the salaries of faculty. This will in my opinion hinder Stetsons' ability to hire and retain quality professors. The size of the school is ideal for me. I love the ability to get to know the professor and other students in my classes. I spend most of my time in Sage Hall (the science building), but the rest of the campus is beautiful and there are many areas to sit and relax or study.

  17. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

There are several activities and groups on campus. The most popular one, in my opinion anyway, is the Greek life. I came to Stetson not caring to be involved in it but I decided might as well rush. I did and it was the best experience. There are other groups such as soccer, volleyball, baseball, etc. When I lived in the dorms everyone left there doors wide open and would intermingle. It was a lot of fun. People party every weekend. Usually Thursdays and Saturdays are the big party nights. There are also many opportunities to do events with the sororites and fraternities to help with their philanthropies like 2am baking and selling pizza or several other things.
