I, personally, am very thankful of SCC. I did not attend college right after high school because I needed space from traditional schooling and time to work on myself. In January of 2019, three years after finishing high school, I started to think about my college journey. I did not want to go to a four-year, and instead heard about the transferring process. I enrolled in Shoreline CC in April of that year and I have enjoyed it ever since. I love that I can go at my own pace and work in the career area that I want. The campus is great, the administration is great, and the people are thoughtful.

This is my first year at Shoreline but so far it has been great. I came into Shoreline blindly not knowing how to register, what I needed, how to get aid, or anything else. I received help very quickly and receive follow up often from advisors and staff even when I don't need it. They've made me feel comfortable and ready to learn even though I'm much older and nervous about being in college they help put my mind at ease.

Virginia - 02/05/2020

Shoreline Community college keeps the campus clean; however, people are very single minded and not accepting of others. The teachers strongly express their opinions and grade harsher if you have a different opinion. The campus is gorgeous, but people's open-mindedness need to change in order for the campus to be more accepting.

Martika - 12/14/2019

Very diverse and welcoming. A lot of the professors, advisors are very helpful and very encouraging.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Taking a quarter off to travel was a very good idea. I learned a lot about myself and felt much more ready for college life after traveling. Make sure you know what life at the college will be like before you enroll there. Be careful about 4 year universities, you can do the first two years at a community college for a lot cheaper. Talk to advisors! They are there to help you and they can be a lot more helpful than you think. Don't try to do things on your own when there are perfectly good people getting paid to help you. Stay confident! It's just school.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

For me, the worst thing about my school is the commute. Shoreline is mainly a commuter school, so I have to drive awhile to get there. Also, parking is terrible. Academic wise, I love shoreline and have no complaints. Like any school it has its funding issues, but that is understandable.
