Roosevelt University REVIEWS

What's your overall opinion of Roosevelt University?

I think Roosevelt is a nicely tight knit school with lots of interesting people to meet who are happy to share opinions and want to be active in things like social justice, the location is great, and the faculty is attentive. The food at the cafeteria is pretty standard and I personally would say that the breakfast is my favorite, but as a university overall, I think Roosevelt University is right for me and I am glad I found it.

I really love it! The environment makes you feel as if it is another home! My roommate and team are always encouraging one another and you truly can be yourself here! I am happy that I chose Roosevelt university for my home for the next four years, I can not wait for more memories with everyone!

Cassandra - 07/28/2020

I think the Roosevelt University is a beautiful school located in the middle of down town Chicago. I am a recent merged student from the merge of Robert Morris University with Roosevelt University. I love how beautiful the campus is, as well as the architecture of the building.

Jaclyn - 05/24/2020

My review is based on someone who realized they wanted to pursue the arts, film specifically, after graduation. The fine arts department is almost non-existent and all media classes are journalism based. There are photography courses but you don't learn from an artistic approach or go over how to actually use a camera. There are more electives listed on the course catalog than there is available so you are limited to a small number of different classes per semester. The majority of professors are adjunct so it's difficult to make any connections for recommendations. It's a very small college with no student life unless you are in greek life. Students often keep to themselves after class which is strange for a college right downtown Chicago. Every class and student organizations on campus is based on social-justice values. Housing is expensive and the food plan needs to be cheaper. Overall, the atmosphere at Roosevelt is very boring. If you are artistic or want to do something in the arts, please don't attend here.

I consider the best about Roosevelt University is that the classes are small and each student is able to form a relationship with the professors. Many students prefer to know about their professors and be able to go to the professor when an issue arises. With one-to-one help, the students are most likely to form relationships with the professors.

  16. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Roosevelt is a pretty social place, there are many lectures for example recently they had a series of lectures on wrongful convictions. The main sports team we have is basketball although sports are not super popular at Roosevelt. There are many organizations such as LGTBQ and Occupy. There is a huge performing arts part of school and so there are many concerts, musicals, and plays offered. I am personally involved in the Criminal Justice Society because Criminal Justice is my major. The dating scene is interesting because there are so many LGTBQ students. If you are not part of that group then many students either date other Roosevelt students or from other colleges that are close by like Columbia, Depaul and Robert Morris. Many Roosevelt Students are friends with other students from other colleges. My closest friends I met last year just through my classes, but I have a lot of friends that go to nearby schools. Often times you meet people through off campus parties which are a blast. As far as fraternities/ sororities are different here they are often directed towards bettering the community and are not as popular as the college town ones would be. Most kids such as myself go to the museums, shop, and travel to different parts of the city. Roosevelt is a great experience.
