It's a great school for the price, especially if you're dual-enrolled as a high school student like I am. It's a community college, so don't expect to find a coffee shop and a Chick-Fil-A in every building on campus. One thing I do appreciate about this school is their arts programs- the theatre program is absolutely phenomenal and even teaches local children to act in well-known productions. Also, the jazz band here is great! I wouldn't move to Martinsville from elsewhere to go here, but if you live within a decent radius you can't go wrong for the price!

The professors are great. They make sure we become professionals in our field of study and beyond. The college personnel are sure we feel comfortable, safe, and knowledgeable. There is always someone there to assist us in our needs. They provide tutoring, admission assistance, assistance with finding a field of study, food, books, and much more. They are sure to provide us with everything we need to succeed.

Overall, Patrick Henry Community College is outstanding compared to another community college I attended right after high school. Everyone I've come in contact with at this college always has a great attitude and always willing to help. The professors are very attentive and helpful in class and even outside of class. There are so many opportunities for me, especially when I need help. The tutoring center is amazing at helping anyone who needs it and they always keep in contact with me asking if I need help.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would certainly go back and tell myself to study a little bit harder. My grades in high school great, I finished my senior year with a 3.5 gpa. The thing that I regret most is that i didn't dual enroll. I should have paid to recieve college credit for classes that i could have gotten out of the way in high school. Then in my first year of college i would have been considered a rising sophmore or junior. I would also tell myself to strive even harder in sports to earn a scholarship, mainly focusing on my track season because thats what I did best in. I would have join more and gotten more involved in the different organizations and clubs that my school offered as well.

  8. What kind of person should attend this school?

*NOTE: I actually attend Patrick Henry College, located in Purcellville, VA. It wasn't on the college list.* You have to be willing to work hard and have commitment and dedication to be able to complete your degree. However, the faculty is wonderful and the classes are small so you will have plenty of opportunities to get to know other students and your professors and plenty of opportunities to ask for advice and help. PHC would be a better fit for someone with an interest in Government, Journalism, Literature, etc, as opposed to someone interested in the Sciences or Mathmatics.
