My time at Ohio State has been life changing thus far. My freshman year roommate is now one of my best friends and I know she will be for the rest of my life. Outside from social gains, I have had plenty of educational benefits, as well. From the competitive classes, I have learned that not everything comes easy in life and I need to work hard in order to succeed. Likewise, I have so many great opportunies working with wonderful professors and students. Most valuable, though, will be the memories. I have enjoyed my time here at Ohio State and I know I will remember these experiences for the rest of my life.

I have gotten a sense of accomplishment and pride. I have accomplished a lot being on my own for the first two quarters of my college career, and I am very proud to be making it virtually on my own, providing for myself in many ways. I feel a sense of pride being here and being a buckeye. I can take a higher education away from here and oppurtnities at better jobs based on my education that many don't get when attending just high school or a different institution other than the university I attend. I feel I have grown up a lot in the short amount of time I have spent away from home. I am learning new things dealing with life and education that I have never been exposed to before and it is great for me. These experiences are making me grow up and become more independent. So far, it has been a great experience, and I have taken a lot away from it. I can't wait to see what my future holds for me.

I've learned from my college experience that I can do anything that I set my mind to. I have been wanting to attend school for the last eight years, but due to becoming pregnant at a young age it was financially difficult. I've been the sole provider for myself and my daughter. It's been a valuable experience to attend, because I'm learning about all the abilities that I have that I've never noticed. My self esteem has increased because I feel good about myself!!

I have been blessed to be accepted into a National Honors Fraternity called Phi Sigma Pi. Where I have gotten the chance to help our local community (Dowd Center: Homeless Families Foundation) and Teach for America. We have adopted a classroom in Chicago and provided it with great supplies to increase their learning. This group has become my greatest friends and made my college life more enjoyable.

I have met some outstanding people during my time here. I have made friends that I look forward to knowing when I am much older. I have grown as a person both mentally and spiritually. The diversity here has forced me to look at things in new and profound ways, and I believe that by the time I graduate I will be on my way to being a successful and productive member of society.

My college experience has truly enabled me to become the intelligent, independent young women that I am today. As a junior at the Ohio State University, I find myself getting involved in students clubs and activities, as well as having an extremely busy and challenging schedule of classes. The skills and experiences that I have encountered while at college have allowed me to truly form and understand my academic and career goals. Becoming a high school science teacher is truly my passion in life, and without my unique college experience, I wouldn't have been able to set such a high career goal for myself. The Ohio State University has given me the confidence and ability to strive proudly toward my goal. My college experience has also enabled me to make lifelong best friends that give me encouragement and support in all that I do. Without these friends, all-night studying sessions and challenging courses would have seemed impossible to get through. By attending college, I have truly discovered who I am as a person, the friends that I want to make lifetime memories with, and the academic and career goals that I want to strive towards.

As the youngest of six and the only one to attend college, I have grown tremendously in the past two years. My parents have always taught me that education is the only thing in life that can never be taken away from you. I live by those words and everything I have done is because of them. My major is Musical Theater, and I will also complete an additional degree in Forensic Psychology. I have made the Dean's List twice and am on the Honor Roll list. Two years ago I lost my father and four years ago I lost my sister. I have overcome a great obstacle in my life and all that I have left is my mother and my education. I wish to someday be on the Broadway stage and make not only my family and friends porud, but to be proud of myself!

My college experience so far has been amazing. I have gotten involved in many student organizations, and have met many new friends. The traditions at my school have encouraged me to be an active member of the university community. In singing with the Men's Glee Club, I have met many important alumni from Ohio State, as well as the president of the university. Each time we sing "Carmen Ohio" (the alma mater of the school), I feel that I am part of something larger than myself. In addition to these extracurricular benefits, my classroom experiences have been valuable as well. I have completed about half of my coursework here, and I have learned many things about my chosen field of study, computer science. Ohio State is a research institution, and it shows in the type of education we receive in our major classes. When I graduate, I know I will feel confident that my degree was well worth it.

I have learned the value of my mother first of all. She has worked hard and has given all she can for me and my siblings. My family comes first then my career. I have learned some realities in life, as far as other people and their way of life. I must have lived a more sheltered life than I realized but I wouldn't change history, it gives me the reason to go on and let me make a change in life, my life and my career and I promise I WILL enjoy what I will be doing, horticulture. I appreciate everything more and more and really like whom I am. I need to work harder or school work, I know, but only have to answer to myself everyday when I look into the mirror. I cannot let myself down, as it will reflect what I do. I am so happy to know what I wanted to do in life when I was 17 years old. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

From my college experience I have been able to determine what I want to do with my life. From enrolling in various courses like art, anatomy, geology, astronomy, chinese, I have been able to learn of new found interests or dislikes. Going to college really widens a person's perspective on the world around them. If you don't have parents that tell you of the possiblities, or who encourage your dreams, college is a great place to experience the world yourself.
