It's an HBCU could be worse...Nice D9 community there. There is always something to do. There are alot of groups you can cross. Pretty sure we're the only college without co-ed visitation, but people still find a way to get it in. Small school, Small campus. Love fired chicken Wednesday

It’s a school I’ll attend

Impress - 03/29/2019

Starting Miles College as a freshman all the way from California and coming all the way to the south to come to school was a big move. I had to quickly adapt to my environment to the home of southern beauty. My first impression of Miles College was that it held a multitude of history. I began to acknowledge the amazing land marks and moments that Miles College partook in during the civil rights movement. I love Miles College because it helped me understand my roots and where I come from. My institution guided me to be grateful for my education because our ancestors worked hard and sacrificed so much so that African-Americans could receive an education. All in all, I love my Historically Black College because it helped shape me into the women I am today, instilling culture, class and civility in me. I am proud to say that everything that I have been involved in from Honors Curriculum, Phi Beta Lamda Honors Society, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Track and Field and being a Freshman Mentor has all been a part of my Miles College experience and I am so grateful for the opportunity and the amazing professors I now call my mentors because they have been a great guidance through my matriculation as a college student.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Giving advice is never a waste, but not recieving it is. Not going to class, not doing a term paper, and most of all not studying, now that's a waste. I would have to tell them to make sure that the college offers your field of choice. Make sure that the student-teacher ratio is something you can handle, and is that campus too big or small. I would tell them to make sure that the college meets their academic requirements, don't settle for who accepts you, go for the school that you know will help you, and if you do choose the first school that accepts you, make sure all of your credits will transfer. Choosing a school that won't contridict your personal life is never easy. If you research the school and take campus/classroom tours, you should be fine.

  11. What kind of person should not attend this school?

A person who wants to attend a large college or university. People tend to network more at large colleges and universities. I feel like the oportunity to find a job would be better at a larger University. If you are a person who does not really like to socialize, this school is not for you. One thing I can say about this school is that there are many people hanging around the campus socializing. Although this school has different sports, it does not have all of the sports that larger universities have.
