A stereotype of students at my school is that they are party animals that go out every night of the week.Yes, there are those people who go out every night of the week, but you can find a group of people like this at any school. As a member of the Greek community, I do have a lot of friends who are also Greek, but many who are not. The Greek community is pretty small, which made my huge school a lot easier for me to meet people.

My overall opinion of LSU is that it's generally amazing. My college experience so far has been quite exceptional. The LSU campus is pretty large so there are plenty of diverse people to interact with, and I pretty much meet a new person every day. Living on campus has given me ample opportunities to participate in all kinds of activities, like: basketball games, football games, Residential Life, free speech ally rallies, the activities seem like they never end. Plus the food isn't half bad either!

People tend to believe LSU students are partiers, or drunkards-- that stereotype, while accurate in certain communities, is far from the norm. Most students at LSU are hard-working, intelligent people, with a mind toward community and individual success.

There aren't any stereotypes at LSU. Everyone is free to be who they are and they get treated equally.

LSU students are sterotyped as party animals, hicks, smelling like corn dogs (according to Alabama) and having fantastic sports program. While no matter where you are you will always find those who will meet a sterotype you will much more often at LSU find diverse hospitable, kind studious people who will always help you if your lost and greet you with a Geaux Tigers!!

Like many Southern Universities, LSU is said to have a strong "Greek" presence. In short, you will see a lot of North Face Jackets and Track shorts, regardless of the weather. While these people are definitely out there (and easy to identify via North Face logos) there are jut as many non-greek students who are just as active socially and love going to LSU. Like many large universities, LSU has such a huge variety of students that everyone can find a place they fit in even if you aren't into the Fraternity or Sorority life.

A common stereotype at LSU is that sororities/fraternities are the majority. While there may be thousands of Greeks on campus, they are far from being the majority. It is not necessary to join the Greek system to be involved or make loads of new friends. I am not in a sorority, but I am involved and have met plenty of fantastic people on and off campus. It is great to join the Greek system if that's what you are into, but feeling pressured to do so because of stereotypes is not at all necessary.

Let's face it: For many, LSU is synonymous with sports. In particular, LSU is known for its prowess on the football field -- until its recent crushing defeat in the BCS Championship, that it. Nonetheless, the best-known LSU players are its sports stars: the scandal-prone football players, the Golden Girls with their sky-high hairdos and cheesy smiles, even the nerdy but talented Tiger Band kids. However, LSU is populated by a diverse group of talented and intelligent students, many of whom never have their mugs plastered across national TV. In my time on campus, I have been involved in different student organizations, allowing me to experience LSU's diversity firsthand. For example, I have gotten to know many theater majors, dancers and choreographers through my involvement in the Dance Ensemble. In addition, I have worked in Student Media, serving as Art Director of one of the nation's best college newspapers, The Daily Reveille. The national media attention devoted to LSU's sports teams and athletes conceals a diverse student body with a variety of interests and activities.

Individuals like to say that Louisiana State University is just a party school and that the academic aspects are very poor. In my opinion, this is untrue. While I can not lie and say that there are not any parties, let's be realistic, this is a college and there are plenty of parties. But LSU students also understand the need to obtain a great education and focuses more on their studies than drinking and partying.
