Louisiana State University is overall a great school. I feel welcomed when I am there. The campus itself is very beautiful. The environmental structure of the school itself is superb. The professors are very nice and made me feel welcomed and provided me with the information I needed. Overall great school.

Mariah - 11/25/2024

It's a great school with great opportunities although there are some downfalls. The professors are absolutely splendid but some classes are so large that learning is struggle. With there being so many students, housing gets pushed to the side. Getting advising is also rather difficult. Once you get into the swing of things, being a student at LSU also becomes easier.

Earl - 07/09/2024

LSU is an ok school depending on what you're there for so your major and motives play a big role in how much you get out of it/enjoy it.

Cody - 06/01/2024

It’s a great university for my academics and extracurricular activity, playing football or running track. My father died before I was born. My mother was 6 months pregnant with me. My mother is a clerk at the local court house. Her minimum wage has barely got me through high school. I have a 3.0 Gpa in hopes of getting into a college.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The advice that I would give students about finding the right college is to really look into their personality. Each college has something unique to offer to that student. People aren't made from cookie cutters, so they aren't all the same. What might be the best college to one is the worst to another. Look at every aspect and make a good decision. Don't rush it.

  4. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The financial aid office is nearly impossible to navigate. I've been over there many times. Not only do they keep moving the office, most of the "counselors" are student workers. I have been here four years and have only talked to a professional financial aid counselor once.

  5. What is your overall opinion of this school?

The best thing about this school to me, is the school spirit when it comes to football. The LSU football team is supported well by the students. If I could change anything about this school it would probably be the allocation of funds towards the football team being used for other educational things. The school is the perfect size. You can know enough people to not know everyone. When people hear that I go to LSU they are very excited, Especially because in Baton Rouge LSU is the college to attend. I spend most of my time on campus in the student union, this is where most people spend their time. Socializing and associating with others. The school's administration is excellent, but sometimes you have to know the right person to go to with certain problems seeing as the campus is so large. As I stated before the school's pride is at an extremely high level.

  10. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

It has a really great atmosphere. The people are really friendly and it has good Southern charm. The campus is also really beautiful - I think that's what surprised me most. There are tons of trees and nice courtyards that you can study in. The buildings look really nice, too. If you're into sports this is definitely the place to be, but it also has what I'm looking for in quality education. I've had a really great time here.

  11. What are the academics like at your school?

If you want a professor to know your name, then most times, you have to sit in the front row of a classroom consistently answer questions or make yourself known in the classroom. Classes are very large sometimes but sometimes, classes are less. My favorite classes would have to be my Political Science classes because of the debates and discussions. Students study as much as they want to depending on your learning ability. Also, how much you study depends on the difficulty level of the class. We have many intellectual conversations outside of class concerning previous class discussions, abortion, the death penalty and other serious debates, even some concerning politics and economics. I am a Political Science Major and a Business Minor, which is why the Political Science classes are my favorite. Getting into LSU was fairly easy for me. Easier than I thought it would be. You only need a 22 on your ACT with a good highschool grade point average. Not only is the education at the school geared toward getting a job, it helps you while you are still in college to gain internships.

  14. What kind of person should not attend this school?

In attending Louisiana State University, I have learned the importance of having my inner motivation to set goals and achieve them. At a school as large as LSU, the numerous opportunities can easily overwhelm and confuse students. Therefore, students without a drive to actively take advantage of such opportunities should not attend LSU. Undergraduates that depend on a smaller community of professors and students for support should not immerse themselves in an environment in which individuals must be independent and self motivating.

  17. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing about my school is that it is primarily concerned with sports, particullary football. Although football does single-handly bring in an enormous amount of revenue for our school, other areas of our school need a little more attention, such as our dairy science program and buildings. LSU could try to give recognition and attention to other academic areas and extracurricular activities.
