What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I had the opportunity to talk to myself as a senior and give advice, I would have a lot of advice to give. I would first make sure to tell myself that freshman year of college WILL be more difficult than high school and to prepare myself for the challenge. I would also tell myself to focus on the friends and memories during my senior year since it is the last year of high school. I would suggest looking at textbooks online before buying them in the campus bookstore and also to research available scholarship opportunities. I would also advise myself to enjoy my college career, yet stay focused on academic responsibilities.

What kind of person should not attend this school?
IUK is not the right school for a person with no ties to the Kokomo area, especially if that person is a very high academic achiever. A student who possesses the intelligence and means to attend a very prestigious university, such as Harvard or Georgetown, that person should not consider IUK as an alternative. Also, if a student is not from the Kokomo area and does not have any great ties to the Kokomo area, there would be no reason to move or travel to Kokomo to attend IUK.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
The people there are only there for school, not to make friends so the social aspect of school is very lacking. Also, there are not many clubs to choose from so it is harder to meet people with similar interests.

My favorite campus tradition is the Halloween Open House. All the clubs get involved. Student Union Board is the event staff. This year there was 21 clubs involved and we reached about 500 children and parents in attendance. It is a great way to involve the campus and community.

Describe your school to someone who's never heard of it.
Indiana University-Kokomo is a small school in Kokomo, Indiana. We have about 4000 students. We are an all commuter campus. We hit ground breaking enrollment every year. Though we are small we do have sports such as Men's and Women's Basketball, Cross-Country, and Volleyball. We also recently added an intramural program. We have over 20 clubs which students are always involved in. IU-Kokomo is a diamond in the rough. Though our campus and city are small it is beautiful and always pushing education.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Small campus where everyone feels like family. Staff and faculty are very accomodating. You ask for help as a new student on campus there was always someone willing to go out of their way tohelp you. Everyone on campus expressed interest in the welfare of the students. One thing I enjoyed the most was their flexibility on tuition payment, not one was kicked out of clas because they have not finished paying their tuition, compared to my previous experience, where you would find yourself dropped out of class if you do meet the deadline for payment.
