The most valuable aspect of my college years are my daughter's watching there mother better herself and never giving up. I had my first daughter when I was in highschool, that caused me to start school later than most of my peers. I have had many struggles but have never given up on my dream of becoming a registered nurse. My only regret in this process was not letting my father watch me walk across that stage. I know that he is watching me in heaven and that along with my children help keep me motivated to achieve greatness and nothing less.

I have gained so much more than an education because of my college experience. I have become a more dedicated and more aware of myself and my future. I have learned how to work together with people by being on the cross country team. I have also learned the importance of time management because while attending school and participating in cross country, I also have a job working at the YMCA. I have been able to feel confident in my studies through my hard work and determination. As a result i currently have a 3.8 GPA. It has been extremely valuable to attend college because i have been able to become a useful part of society and will benefit the society in the future. This is why college is very important and why there is a lot to gain from attending higher education.

I had originally attended IU as a member of the Women’s Field Hockey team. Unfortunately after our fall season I have decided that I would no longer wish to be a part of it. Although from this experience I have been able to meet twenty other individuals that I would consider my family, a home away from home. Furthermore, my academic experience has been phenomenal. I struggled with selecting a major, but finally found the appropriate one for me from the large variety provided. The program I especially love is the option of building your own major if you cannot find one from the available options. I have been exposed to a variety of cultures and opportunities that I would not have been able to have anywhere else. Environmental management is my dream major and I could not have discovered it in better way than by Indiana’s growing “green” expansion of the campus. This increasing awareness of making a green change is one of my greatest loves of Indiana.

I am currently at the University of Arizona and i have discovered it is to big for my tastes. I love being on the track team and getting to meet lots of new people. I really learned how to be responsible and function on my own.

During college I have met several new friends, but the most valuable part of the experience so far has been the actual education itself. It is very rewarding to have new found knowledge that others have but I was unaware of. Towards the end of high school all of my classes were progressing at the rate of the slowest student. This meant that I had pratically nothing to do and learned very little. In other words, it was kind of a waste of time. In contrast to this, my time spent at the community college has been challenging and very informative. Each course that I have taken has expanded on things that I thought I knew or had heard of. I have a much better understanding of how the world and other things work and can now clearly see the importance of obtaining a formal education.

My experience at Indiana University has changed my life. I have learned invaluable lessons, both inside and outside of the classroom. I have experienced highs and lows, all of which have taught me how to persevere and better myself. The atmosphere, educators, and students at Indiana University have helped shaped me into the academic and person I am. I love being on campus, taking classes, and being involved in university activites. I have learned life lessons and career skills I will use for the rest of my life. I plan on continuing my learning for the remaining two years I have at Indiana University.

During my first semester of college I have learned how to manage my time properly. I have become much more organized and committed to my school work. However, the biggest thing I have gotten out of college are all the new friends I have made through class, dorm life, and the women's rugby team. My time at college has been valuable because it is helping me figure out the carreer I wish to pursue.

Attending college has given me the opportunity to explore a huge range of possibilities and personalities. On any given day there are myriad things to do that interest me whether it's IM sports, various club meetings, or even just hanging out at some event on campus. There always seems to be something going on. Pairing that experience with being able to learn all about something I'm really interested in creates the true value in the whole experience.
