Indiana University-Bloomington Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at Indiana University-Bloomington accurate?

Ryan

I do see some apathy for school work, and I hear people talking about going out to the bars every night of the week. So yes, I would say there is some truth to the party stereotype. In terms of intelligence, I think there is plenty of brain power at IU, although sometimes it's hard to tell if people just don't care or if they're actually dumb.

Alex

To a certain degree. IU is suprising liberal for being located in Indiana. But there is still a long ways to go before diversity and difference is truly embraced.

Kristina

Yes and no. This school is large, and it is easy to get lost or feel left out if you aren't a partier, but a lot of this depends on your personal committment to your happiness. Dorms, clubs, etc will all shape a student's experience. There are a lot of diverse people and activities here, it's just a matter of finding one you fit in with.
