What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
What you learn in life not only enhances your vocabulary and social skills, but it stimulates your mind to make good decisions. It's the difference between a 5-figured, or a 6-figured guaranteed sum when darkness comes into our lives. Some would say it comes from friends, family, school, teachers, professors, and life in general. The answer is our choices and decisions. Society says that graduation is an achievement of a milestone in our life, but what we don?t realize is that our life is just beginning, it embarks on a new life journey, in which some are scared to face. We can get a well-paid job with a nice pay cut, but the bottled emotions one may have come from the support that our families, teachers, pastors, and leaders have given us. At twenty-two years old, I am able to give back to my family and community. I?ve learned that a accomplishment is only as big as you make it to be, a dream starts off as an unpainted picture, but in learning, crying, failing, succeeding, teamwork, hard-work, effort, comfort, and support, you can paint a ?masterpiece.?

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Hesston College is a very warm and welcoming college. The first time I visited the campus, students would smile and say hello in passing. There is a very refreshing and optimistic view of life and education here. I would say it is unique because the students call the professors by their first names. Not only is it normal, but it is encouraged. The goal is to create an atmosphere of family, a feeling that you are close to your professors even outside the classroom, where they become your mentors and friends. It is a very enjoyable and warming experience.

Describe your favorite campus traditions.
My school is known for being one of the first Historically Black Colleges' to merge two schools into one big school during a time of segregation. We are one of the few universities that is a church affiliation (Methodist) school who has an actual church service during the week. We have an active alumni that always gives back to the school and we have an active pre-alumni that work hard to improve the school through Student Government Association.

What's unique about your campus?
The best thing about my school is the diversity within the student body. Despite being a small school, we have students from over half of the states in the U.S. and 10{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of our student body are from other countries all over the world. Through my relationships with people of different backgrounds, nationalities, and worldviews than my own I have broadened my own view of the world, been challenged academically, and grown in numerous ways. Both in and out of the classroom, my interactions with the various students at my college have been formative and invaluable.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about Hesston College, for me, is that there are not any study abroad opportunities. It has always been my dream to study abroad during my college years and, when I graduate, I still plan to at the college I transfer to. It is just frustrating that I have to wait another year and a half to get that opportunity.
