Hardin-Simmons University is my dream college. I have visited about 5 times and each time it's different when walking on campus. The academics are great and everyone is so nice. The staff are always helpful and it is a great Christian environment to be in.

Hardin-Simmons University has been a good school to begin my musical studies, but the school has become a business rather than an institution focused on education as a high priority. This past year, a multitude of departments received faculty cuts and budget cuts due to bad management in past years and currently. Five of my main professors (out of the seven) for my degree plan were let go and not replaced, so I am transferring to a different University to finish my degree. If these cuts would not have happened, I would have stayed and finished my degree at Hardin-Simmons University.

Hardin-Simmons is a great school. There's small class so there's adequate opportunities for help if needed. Students are always involved in something and easily make new friends. There is a pet goose named Gilbert, and every year there is a big birthday party thrown for him. Stereotypes and cliques still exist, as does everywhere in the world, but it is kept to a minimum as everyone is accepting towards one another.

Hardin-Simmons University is a small campus that makes a huge impact on those who step foot into the school. It is culturally, mentally, spiritually, and academically open-minded. Anyone is welcome. Since the campus has a small population, you can see it in the classrooms and it is absolutely amazing. This gives me and other students the opportunity to really get to know our professors on a more personal level when we meet with them. The faculty/staff here are always so helpful and have a great attitude when someone needs help with absolutely anything. My friends here at Hardin-Simmons have become my family. It is my home away from home.

  6. Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

Plainview High School provided a solid education, but lacked in some areas. We had a great number of students for the size of our building. There were many female students pregnant, fathers/soon to be fathers, gangs and uncaring students throughout school. The school is 72{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} hispanic/mexican, 24{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} white, and 4{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} black students. It's tough being the minority in a hispanic/mexican majority town. Sure, the school held great memories, but everyone I spoke to agrees, "we have to get out of here." I concur with their statements. I felt relief to move to Abilene in the fall.
