As a Default level student, I have a positive opinion of Hampton University and there are several aspects of the university that I admire the most.
One of the things that I like most about Hampton University is its historic significance. The university was founded by General Samuel Chapman Armstrong, a Union Army officer who believed in providing education and opportunities for freed slaves and their descendants. Hampton University has a long tradition of empowering African American students through education and has played a key role in advancing civil rights and social justice in the United States.
Another aspect that I appreciate about Hampton University is its strong academic programs and innovative approach to education. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in various disciplines, including business, education, engineering, and the sciences. Hampton University is also known for its emphasis on experiential learning and its commitment to preparing students for successful careers in their chosen fields.
Additionally, I admire Hampton University's campus and community. The university's campus is beautiful and historic, with many buildings dating back to the 19th century. The campus is also home to several museums and cultural institutions, such as the Hampton University Museum, which houses a diverse collection of African American art and artifacts. The university community is vibrant and diverse, with students from all walks of life coming together to learn and grow.

Beautiful campus surrounded by the Sea with a strong academic presence. Everyone was very energetic and passionate about being students at the school. The faculty and staff were very knowledgeable and I learned a lot about the history of the university.

To begin, Hampton University is an amazing school with amazing staff. It is an HBCU that is built to shape young black men and women into who they want to be while always being professional. On campus, there will often be events that require you to wear business casual or business professional outfits, which consist of slacks and usually a nice shirt with a tie. After a year of attending these events, I, along with many other classmates, can vouch that the business professional look impacted how we carried ourselves as people at these events, which was ultimately Hampton's goal. For education, professors are typically always there to assist you with what you need, and if by chance you are not able to get in touch with them, office hours are offered on the syllabus. The campus is somewhat small, but with a couple friends, you should be able to have fun anywhere. Some of the most popular spots are the game room and the amazing spots to sit outside by the water that are usually open and unoccupied. Lastly, I want to talk about the dorms, which are where you, as a college student, will be living. I wouldn't classify them all as amazing, for there are some dorms that are extremely basic, but your dorms are only what you guys make them. A lot of times, messes will be made and won't be picked up, which has nothing to do with Hampton but rather with the population of the dorm. Overall, Hampton is a great school, and I can't wait to go back.

Hampton University is an okay school. If you look past classism, unresponsive administration, and extremely outdated facilities, it's a great school. There are many professors who truly care and the academics are superior. I recommend Hampton University if you get a good scholarship but beyond that, save your 46k for a better school.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Hampton University is 64%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
When people say college is where you find out who you want to become and where you want to be, well that is very much true. Being at Hampton helped me establish who I am now. I knew who I was and what i wanted out of life but I had some confusions about certain things and being at Hampton just helped me clarify that. I can now stand proudly and speak elegantly when asked a question of what I would like to be or what my future plans are. Hampton has helped me set a road map for my life and future plans, where I want to be, who I am going to be and where I end up after graduation. Any school is valuable to attend because it is a chance to further your educational goals and seek a better life for yourself, family and future generations. It has been valuable to me because I now know who and what I am without any hestitation.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
When considering my school, the worst thing about Hampton University would have to be the college expense. Although there are not any out of state fees the tuition along with comp. fees, housing, and food add up to almost $30,000 a year which is hard for most students who are not on scholarships (football players) to afford.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
It's not a school for artisitc students similar to myself. If you sports like rugby or feild hockey like me, we don't have them here. Nor if the majority of your fiends from high school were caucasian
The best thing about Hampton University is the small size of the campus. There are only about 5,000 undergraduate students and approximately another 1,000 graduate students. The campus is small enough that one can cross it by walking in approximately 20 minutes. The class sizes are the same as high school, and it does not feel like the campus is overcrowded by people.
They are music-loving, fashion-oriented, partiers that understand the need for a good education and are able to get up from a night of socializing to attend an early morning class.
My school is best know for having a high number of graduates that go on to get offers from many jobs, have a many intership offers, and very succesful Journalism School.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
One unique feature that Hampton University has to offer, is the overall development of confidence and originality in its students. It is a culturally diverse school with plenty of oppurtunities. Here people are very accepting of different cultures and ideas. Many people find who they truly are because here, they feel accepted and able to express and explore their true selves. Every other school may offer the same classes, but not the same type of feeling when students attend Hampton University.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
We are the real HU. Not Howard University or Harvard but Hampton University. Also we have great programs such as the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications adn the new proton research therapy institute is only 3 of its kind in the world.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about my school is at times there is not enough activites to be involved with during the weekend. There may be events that are happening but becaue I a ma freshman , I can't get to them due to them being off campus.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
96% of students
attending Hampton University receive some sort of financial aid.
45% were awarded federal grants.
While 74% received federal loans.
