Attending college has been an invaluable experience for me. My college experience has taught me how to budget my time, work in group settings and given me the foundation to succeed in the field of Social Work. Although I understand that college is not for everyone, I could not imagine where I would be within my career without attending college. Not only did I learn the knowledge to succeed, having an education has provided me the self esteem and confidence to do well in my career.

While I currently attend a community college, I look forward to being able to tansfer into Virginia Commonwealth University to go into the field of Pharmacy. My community college, Thomas Nelson, has helped me greatly on letting me figure out a perfect major, in a stress free environment. Thomas Nelson has given me the opportunity to get the college feel, while being able to accomplish my goals of getting a higher education. I am excited to continue on with my education and eventually higher my learning, leading into a Pharmacy career. Thomas Nelson has been valuable by helping me to choose a major in a fun and exciting environment, while being able to help me save the money that I had when I did not know what I wanted to do or accomplish in life. The professors are also a valuable asset to the college aswell. Without the professors, student life at the community college would not be the same. The college experience at Thomas Nelson has been a pleasant one and I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge and being able to help people in the future.

I have been able to continue my education on and off without feeling same or redicule for my age, sex or ethnic backround. I can go at my own pace and still feel like I am getting the full college experience.

When I started my first year at FAU, the work and environment were difficult for me to grasp. Eventually, thanks to the professors and counselors at the university, I realized the steps that I would need to take to achieve my goals of becoming successful and make my dreams come true. My college experience has shown me that I don't need to attend parties/events to have a true understanding of the college experience because that isn't what works for my future but instead I have come to actually be in the library and learn about the past and present issues and triumphants of the human race. My personal beliefs have even been changed by attending this university but in a good way. Florida Atlantic University has allowed me to become a responsible adult, while still having fun and not letting it be as boring as I expected. I am proud to say that I am enrolled in FAU because if I had went to a different university then I probably wouldn't have met some really incredible people, who have helped to change my life for the better. I am grateful for the experiences that helped me.

I have gotten a variety of education from my university and plenty of learning experiences. There have been opportunities to further my education through internships and two professors helped me the most. It is nice to have a few reliable professors who do their job well beyond what they are required. A college education is valuable because it is the necessity of today’s world. One can barely get by on a high school diploma and the more educated a person is the more accepting they are. Those that are uneducated are good people but there is so much more that they could experience and learn if they were given the opportunity. A college education although not required to survive, should be a guaranteed right to every child despite where they come from because it betters the person and helps them grow.

The most important thing that I have gotten out of my college experience is the respect of my six children. I see the proud faces of children that didn't have a role model for a mom before, but they do now. I am grateful for the education and all of the things that I have learned in the classes that I have taken that I can use in my daily life. My college experience has allowed me to see that no matter what disabilities or circumstance that I am faced with, I can keep moving forward. Being a student has been valuable to me because I love to learn new things everyday. If I have gotten anything out of this experience, it is that when I'm finished, I will continue to help other people continue their education that stand against the odds because I recognize that no one stands alone. We all need help sometimmes.

For me, college has been an invaluable experience that has helped shape and create who I am today. When I first arrived at college I was extremely timid and unsure of myself. In the last several years I have transformed into a confident, self-assured young woman who embraces individuality and independence. I now have a passion for learning, and find meaning and purpose in excelling academically. Receiving a quality education is a priceless gift that requires motivation, perseverance and dedication, yet, it is a gift that continues giving throughout every step in life. After I graduate from FAU, I plan on attending graduate school and eventually pursuing a career in criminal psychology. As a child, my parents always told me I could do whatever I wanted in life., now, as a senior in college, I wake up every morning truly believing that I am capable of achieving absolutely anything, and everything, I want out of life.

For a long time I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. My time in college has opened my eyes to the possibility that I can do anything I want, no matter how impossible it sounds. Here at FAU, I found myself. I discovered what makes me happy and how I want to spend my life. It's crazy and a little insane, but it is my dream and I believe that my education here is going to help me realize it. I come from a family that loves hockey. I'm a rare breed here in South Florida, and yet I am not alone. I met my boyfriend here and he shares my passion. I decided to delve into the business world so that I can bring a hockey culture here by opening a new arena and bringing in a minor league team. People throughout Canada and the more traditional hockey markets would scoff at such an idea, but this is an area that has a passion for sports and hockey should be no different. Without my college experience, I would not have thought this dream was possible, but one day it will come true.

I want to be a part of “green” discoveries, bringing ideas and people together to implement positive solutions to global problems. To solve our environmental, energy, health and economic issues we must think creatively. It has been a privilege to study ocean engineering and a member of Florida Atlantic University’s College of Engineering & Computer Science’s Innovation Leadership Honors Program. I am being taught by, working on projects with, and making friends with people from diverse backgrounds and countries, exposing me to novel view points and ideas. I attend lectures, exhibits, plays and demonstrations. Through my experiences at Florida Atlantic University, I have learned who I am and my capabilities. I have acquired skills, gained leadership experience, built confidence, and know I can do anything if I persevere. I have learned that in order to achieve a goal one must go out and DO IT!!! I learned to not listen to the people who say it is impossible. I have seen tragedies and poverty and have learned to appreciate what I have: my family, my friends, my university and my country.

The most important thing I have gained while attending Florida Atlantic University is a real sense of independence. At this University, the student has to be self-reliant. They do not spoon feed you anything. I learned that if I want to be the best I can possibly be, I have to work really hard. In order to be successful, I need to stay up to date on all of the work that I have to do. In high school and even at the community college that I attended before coming to FAU, the teachers and professors always reminded the students several times of all the assignments that were coming up. At FAU, they tell you what you need to do, but they don’t spend a lot of time repeating anything that they have already gone over. If you want to succeed here, you have to help yourself. I have learned to ask more questions, and write everything down. It is important not to be afraid to ask for help. However, success or failure ultimately comes down to how hard you, the student, worked to get there.
