Ferris State University Top Questions

The worst thing about Ferris is the distance it is away from the nearest big city. It's about a 45 minute drive to Grand Rapids, which has the nearest malls and more varied activities. Ferris has a lot of things to do, there is a movie theater, 2 bars, a club, and a bowling alley that also contains a bar, arcade, and at certain times, a mechanical bull. There is also a Walmart, Meijer, Rite Aid, and Walgreens, but if you want any more of a selection than that you have to make the trip to Grand Rapids.

There is not a lot to do in Big Rapids. It's a very small town.

Although Kendall is located in downtown Grand Rapids, there are no dorms and no college campus feel. You need to find a laundromat, cook your own meals and there are no sporting events to attend.

The cold weather and the isolation for family.

The financial aid department is not very attentive. You can call and email, and they take forever to get back with you. And when trying to figure out different funding options, they don't really offer any advice.

I think that like any school the high cost hurts most it's students, even more so students like me with no money.

Department of Public Safety. They rip you off for a decal sticker, their workers are the most unpleasant staff I have ever had to deal with.

Too much partying on campus & off campus. Alcohol allowed in dorms unlike some other universities.

BIg rapids sucks. it is the most undiverse uncultured town i have ever had the displeasure of living in
