Connecticut College Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at Connecticut College accurate?

Colleen

There is a definite lack of diversity on this campus, and the students are predominately white and very wealthy. Diversity has gotten better in the past few years, but a lot of work needs to be done. A lot of the students have come from small private schools or boarding schools and are sheltered to a degree. However, there are very intelligent students here who do want to make a difference in the world.

jasmine

For the most part yes. There are many extremely privileged students on campus, however there are many underprivildged students on campus as well. Those that appear very privileged are usually the ones that appear to live in a bubble, are preppy and conservative as well. AND yes, most students come from the ct, ma, ny area, but there are many students from other areas of the country and the world.

Jeff

no, very few people are preppy, and many of our students receive some meed based financial aid

Maria

Only semi-accurate. For every student that seems like the stereotypically Conn kid, there are 5 more that dont fit the bill. Conn is diverse in personalities and student interests

Christopher

Racially we are not that diverse but are taking serious strides forward. We do have an incredible social scene.

Lexi

of course there are some, however there are very down to earth people as well, although the student body does seem to be somewhat homogeneous

Olivia

some

Peter
