Sloan - 10/31/2021

Central Oregon Community College is a great place for students to start their college journey at. There are a wide variety of academic programs and student organizations. The one thing that stands out is the campus location. Situated in the West Hills overlooking the town of Bend, Oregon, and not far from the Cascade Lakes Highway, students are presented with the opportunity to enjoy local shops, or make a trip to the many lakes and Mt. Bachelor.

COCC is a great school. They have opportunities for any different type of student (race, gender, ethnicity, hobbies, etc.) They are very inclusive and they are a good transition school into a 4-year University. I started COCC when I was 14 through a program, and the professors helped me make sure I knew what I was doing the whole way through.

John - 01/30/2020

I honestly love COCC, as it is commonly referred to. All of my teachers have been fantastic; some of them I actually consider to be mentors. The only downside of COCC is the fact that it is on a massive hill, which can be a little treacherous in snow. Otherwise it is a fantastic college!

Madison - 01/18/2020

I like COCC. The school is fairly big but relevant to other colleges, COCC is pretty small. The classrooms are small which make it easier to get on one time with instructors. They offer free tutoring in all subjects which is a huge plus! They are even open during weekend hours which makes it so everyone who needs help has a chance to get help if they need it. They have a cute coffee shack that is relaxing especially during finals week to hang out and study. The library offers tons of online books and research studies that would not otherwise be available without paying lots of money to read them. All in all COCC provides lots of resources for their students to be successful.

  3. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I would have known how much money to save up for school and other bills I have. I guess I am refering to college life in general because there are a lot of unforseen expensis. If one doesn't prepare well enough they could be out of money before they are finished with the school year. It is very hard to buy a class room knowing that you have to pay your other bills at the end of the month.

  9. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about my school would have to be the price of oour class room books. Just three book can cost around $300 for one trimester. I would also like to see a meal deal for the campus lunch. I am currently buying lunch 2 times a week, which is an average of $70 a month. If they could make a meal deal it would really save me some money. They could charge $50 a month for meals, or lower the prices on the food they serve.

  13. What is your overall opinion of this school?

Central Oregon Community College is a small town college trying to look like a bigger in-the-know school. but the admin and financial aid people are overworked and hard to talk with. Especially the department heads. I wanted the small school attitude to be there to uplift and support the studnets when they have questions and help you solve problems, rather than create yet another one. This school gets bogged down in paperwork, instead of epople work. The teacher s are great though. The teachers here will go out of their way , spending after hours to make sure the studnets succeed in the classes. the discussions in class will challenge your thinking. And the studnets from Oregon, especially, are friendly and very polite. Overall, I'd give the school a 4 out of ten possible points.

  14. What kind of person should not attend this school?

I am a firm believer that anyone can go to college. My only thing to add to that, is that you really need to be committed to your education. Do not just attend college on a whim. Be dedicated to yourself and your learning.
