Dining services were recently improved significantly with the addition of a make-your-own stir-fry station, panini presses, and waffle irons out all day! Students can really get creative with their meals.

I love Amherst, but it can definitely be very stressful at times. Most people here are huge overachievers; they're balancing schoolwork with a sport and another time-consuming extracurricular without neglecting their social lives. Most people are incredibly driven to succeed, although not necessarily in terms of getting a great job and being rich. Sometimes it can get to be a little much.

To tell the truth, a college experience only depends on the school to some extent. I believe that whether or not a student has a positive college experience depends more on the person and the attitude with which they approach school than on the school itself. I love Amherst, and I can't imagine myself anywhere else, but I'm sure if I had gone to another school, I would be raving about it too.

While the college disbanned all fraternities in the 1980's, there are still a few "underground" frats that have tried to establish a presence. No one really pays attention to them, though, and they have sort of become a campus joke.

Brian

great school, so glad I came here.

Amherst's campus is beautiful. the view from the top of memorial hill, overlooking the sportfields and into the mountains is amazing, especially when the leaves are changing colors. The majority of the buldings are pretty also; there are no high rises or anything like that; none of the dorms have more than four floors.

Amherst is beautiful, has gorgeous dorms, and lots of resources/money. And purple and white is an awesome color combo.

As much as i love amherst, the whole college set-up bothers me sometimes. first, we're worked to the bone by classes, which i guess is important b/c the "real world" can do that, but sometimes all the busy-work isn't necessary. i just feel like people might be burnt out after college. second, the social dynamic bugs me sometimes. it seems people have to drink to have fun, and while i do have fun when i go out, it just annoys me sometimes. Also, i hate that people just want to hook-up and aren't looking for serious relationships. i'm just not the type of person to hook-up with different people every weekend...but overall i really love this school
