It's a great school with very nice professors who are passionate about what they do. The school is in downtown Stamford, so the scene is very fast-paced and there is always an opportunity to go to your favorite restaurant, visit the parks, or snag an internship. It can get rowdy in the dorms as I live on a floor that is known to party a lot, but there are plenty of areas to study if you want to.

A basic commuter college. They have little active clubs, but that hosts events. Not many people go to the events. Sometimes there are free food and that’s very helpful. The school does not provide free meals themselves, but because of its location, it is surrounded by many restaurants. The professors really show they care and often remind students their availability.

University of Connecticut-Stamford does not have the regular feel of a college campus. There is one building for class and one building for the dorms. A total of about 600-800 students live on-campus. Although there are no sports teams to watch or join, there is a YMCA across the street from the dorms (in Hotel 0 Degrees) that give UCONN students a free membership if their Husky Card is provided. In addition, there is no Greek life, but plenty of opportunities to go into Downtown Stamford to bars, the movie theatre, the mall, or even NYC with just an hour long train ride.

    If I could go back to my high school years in Germany, I would tell myself this: "You've done well so far. However, you are too sick of school and immature to go right to college. Don't waste your time on an apprenticeship either. Just because everybody's doing it doesn't mean you need to. Unless you know what you want (which you don't), don't waste 3 years of boredom for crappy pay. Go travel the world. It's the best way to learn and the fastest way to grow up. Don't worry about the money. You'll figure it out when you're there. Going to Australia for a year is one of the best ideas you'll ever have, so go for it and don't let others talk you out of it. It will show you what life's really like. You'll see how tough it can be, but you'll also learn that you can do WHATEVER YOU WANT. Then go study in the U.S. You'll get an excellent education minus the military style of German schools. Embrace your freedom, but don't forget about your roots".

    Being a local, easy to reach campus that allows students to continue their education and participate in classes that are equal to that of the main campus located in Storrs. Class rooms are intimate, stimulating a higher engagement in discussion and interaction with the professor. Although a business oriented campus, there are many opportunities to expand outside of business into other majors and complete an undergraduate education.

  6. What's unique about your campus?

    At my previous school most students just went to class and back home. It was hard to make new friends in the 10 minute breaks between classes. At UConn, however, there are a ton of student activities you can participate in. This is the best and fastest way to meet like-minded people.

    UConn is totally diverse. You'll get the most out of your education there, if you are hard-working, if you are willing to go out of your way and take advantage of everything this school has to offer from student resources (library, computer lab, etc.) to the excellent counselors' advice.

    There wasn't any information witheald from me that I wished that I had known. Every question I've ever had was answered by a friendly staff member or even a student that already attends the uinversity. It is easy to get any information a person might be seeking because there are so many resources available throughout the campus.

  9. What kind of person should not attend this school?

    The Stamford Campus is a small campus located in urban city in CT. Most of the students live off campus and work full time jobs. This campus is not the not for the student who is looking for real college experience. Most of the students are career-oriented and take advantage of the internship opportunities available in Stamford and the proximity to the New York City. Student who looking for large campus with a lot of extracurricular activities will like Storrs campus better. Living in Stamford area requires student to be fast paced, mature and independent.

  10. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

    First of tuition is low and I live close by, therefore I am able to go from my house to school and vice versa. It is not a big school, but since I went to a small Catholic high school it was an easier transition. I am able to talk with the teachers and ask them questions during office hours. Also the shool is in downtown Stamford, therefore I am able to hang out with my friends by going to the movies or eating at a restaurant.

    Fewer class choices are available during the day and it is hard to register for classes I like in the morning/during day time.

    The most frustrating thing about my school would be the limit to the classes of which you can take for your major. The school doen't provide all the classes necessary for you major, therefor you would have to transfer to the Storrs campus in order to graduate.
