I love the atmosphere of the school. I did not love the fast pace of the previous school year as it was typically a more thought out course, but there were schedule changes that gave the school some freedom (well, the students freedom, really) and they wanted us to have that. They care a ton about the students well being and will always make sure you have everything covered.

I am extremely pleased with the education that I was given and the experiences I endured while at Fox Valley Technical College. The thing that persuaded me the most to choose this college over any other technical or four year college for my degree (Forensic Science) was the choice to do classes online and in class. Living an hour away from the campus and wanting to stay at home to save money rather than living in the dorms, the online option was a great choice for me. I was able to get a hold of teachers in a timely manner by email or phone and if need be, I could come to meet up with them at the college. I did a couple classes on campus as well a couple days a week. These classes were very hands on and the teachers were very knowledgeable in what they were teaching, since they have been in the field they were teaching about. The teachers were very active in the students' learning and lives in general. They were there when I needed help with something for class, even if it meant staying after class with me to get me on the right track. With the small class sizes of about 25, students were able to have more one-on-one interaction with the teachers and everyone got to know each other better than if they were in a lecture hall with a larger number of students. This made doing hands on activities in groups much more enjoyable and fun. The small class sizes were a huge plus in general. When I first was accepted into Fox Valley Technical College, they gave me a generic timeline on the best way to accomplish my degree in two years. Then, they helped me personalize it by sitting me down and helping me figure out what would work best for me. They took into consideration that I wanted to do the online and in class options and helped set up each semester to accommodate that. Once I was in my last semester, they were there to help me figure out my future plans and how to achieve them. Teachers also gave updates on places that were hiring and other opportunities in a weekly bulletin. I appreciated the time and willingness to help me, as this time was very stressful for me. Overall, I give this a college five stars. This college reminded me of my high school and made me feel welcome. I would recommend it to anyone.

Great campus having an amazing experience here. I would recommend this college to anyone. Instructors are very friendly and want you to succeed. It's a technical college so there are not many sports activities going on such as football and basketball. They have sports teams however, they are not that big as they are in Division 1 college. Which is fine by me because I am here to get my degree and meet some people in my classes

Joel - 09/24/2019

It is a very nice collage to go to if you are looking to save money, or you never imagined you would be able to go to college. They offer an unreal amount of resources for low income students, including a day care and food pantry. They are very sensitive to the needs of the students.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell my high school senior self not to procrastinate, but work hard and be ready before the deadline. Don't spend all your money on worthless things that is only good for the moment. Save it for your books and other class materials. Also to build good studying habits and manage time wisely. I would also say " don't exercise your freedom too much", but trust your gut when it says " go home and call it a night". This is what I would tell my high school senior self to prep for.

  6. What's unique about your campus?

The programs a student can chose a career from, are more diversre than the other campuses I have attended. I had the ability to get into an Individualized Technical Degree Program, which is a perfect fit for my future goals. The staff is great, and have a laid back kind of teching style, that makes students more apt to ask questions if they need to. The enrollment staff, do an awsome job each semester, even though they are swamped by the number of students that enroll. I graduate in 2011, and will continue to recommend this college.

I do not know if it is unique, but I do like the fact that my school has an accelerated program for early childhood. Again as an older student with a family, the program was easy to fit into my work and family schedule.

This school especially Oshkosh Riverside Campus makes you feel at home. the people are helpfful. They are caring. The school is open long hours to make sure that if you need any help, someone is always there to help. There are several places that you can study or just chill out. At this school, you don't ever have to be at home if you don't want to. The Oshkosh Student Board, the teachers, and most all staff are very helpful with any problems you have. I almost thought about working here because it is so nice here.

  16. What kind of person should not attend this school?

It's not that any person should not attend this school. However, being one year out of high school, I would advise freshmen to attend a "normal" university if they want to be with students their age. I don't have much opportunity to meet younger friends since so many people have lost jobs and are retraining to get back into the job market. While I am satisifed with the school itself, I may have rethought my decision had I known what I know now.
