What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I am so glad to go to college to get my education because that's the teaching from the prophet of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. Now I realize how important to study for I can make my country and family better. The reasons why I mention about this situation are 1. The knowledge at the college is deeper and wider than in a high school, and it can explore your mind and thought. 2. The way you pursue the knowledge from the books and the professors will make your attitude and sight different so whatever you will do in the future will be more sufficient and more successful. 3. The relationship with everyone surrounded you will be closer because you guys are pursuing your dreams together. 4. You will get more chances to have a good job. I am happy to have a chance to get a higher education in my life and I know it will make YOUR life more vivid.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The most challenging issue facing students at Tidewater Community College is parking. I have taken classes at each of the four campuses. The Norfolk campus is based out of a heavy populated downtown area. Students are charged a flat $25 fee per semester in order to park in designed garages. The biggest problem is the distance of the garages to the instructional area. The Virginia Beach campus has an insufficient amount of parking spaces to accommodate students. The Chesapeake and Portsmouth campuses are currently under construction. The supplies needed by workers decrease the amount of spaces available to students.

What kind of person should not attend this school?
If I had to choose one type of person that should not attend Tidewater Community College, it would be someone who is not dedicated to working hard in an attempt to further his or her personal life and become an upstanding citizen of the United States of America. I do believe, however, that everyone deserves a chance to broaden his or her educational oppurtunities, and Tidewater Community College provides people with that oppurtunity.

Describe your favorite campus traditions.
Tidewater Community College (TCC) is well known for being a good start to college. It allows students to stay near home and attend for much cheaper tution then other state schools. The classes sizes are modest and the schedules are flexible, allowing students to work while in school to support themselves. All in all, TCC is the school for students who cannot afford a larger school and need to work to substain themselves while attending college.

What are the academics like at your school?
TCC has three different campuses and the one that I attend is home to the mathematics and scientific sides of the college. In VA Beach (approx 20 mins away) most of the language classes are held there and the Chesapeake campus (15-17 mins away) houses theater, film and art classes.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I think that the stereotype of community college students is that we are dumb, or lazy and that we couldn't get into bigger schools. That could't be farther from the truth! Community college students are actually VERY smart. We know that it's more economically smart to take general education classes at a local college and then transfer to a uni thus saving you time and money.
