What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Don't worry about going to a community college first. While you may feel left out in the beginning, you will be rewarded financially in the long run. Also, it gives you time to think about what you want to do, without spending way too much money on classes that you end up not needing for your major (once you decide).

What's unique about your campus?
I believe the best thing about my schoool is the smallness. The classrooms are smaller, and it is easier to learn. The proffessors get to know you on a one-on-one bases, and remember you. It is also nice to be able to see people you know while walking to class.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Texas A&M is an outstanding school. The student-faculty ratio at Texas A&M University--College Station is 18:1, and the school has 22.0 percent of its classes with fewer than 20 students. I love Texas A&M for all of its quirks and traditions. There is no other school this large where you will not feel like just another number to the faculty and staff. In fact, I rarely notice that the school is big at all. I love that everything seems to have a tradition to go along with it.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I wouldn't quite say that this school has a certain type of stereotypes! This campus is a very diverse university and I am proud to be a part of it. Yes, we have Fraternities and Sororities, but they do not make up this whole campus. We have jocks, nerds, "popular" kids, weirdos, you name it we got it. However, we all have something in common, we are all students here to learn and better ourselves.

What is your overall opinion of this school?
I have to say the best thing about this school is how nice everyone is! If you are new and don't know your way around, just ask someone and they are more than happy to show or tell you. This college is in a small town, but that has its perks! The rent for apartments is cheap and it can be very quiet around here. When someone ask me what school I go to, I proudly tell them Texas A&M Commerce University!

What are the academics like at your school?
The professors here are amazing! Because the classes are not very big (maybe 45 people to a class) the professors are able to do more one-on-one help. They are very helpful and kind when you come to them with questions no matter how silly you might feel asking it. I am majoring in Elementary Education EC-6 with ESL certification, and I absolutely love it! The library is always full of people studying, finding books, or just drinking coffee to relax. This University is definitely on my top list!

Why did you decide to go to this school?
I decided to come to Texas A&M University-Commerce because it was very affordable for me, and it was close enough to home so that I could see my family when I wanted to, but far enough for me to do my own thing and be an adult.
I really like the level of dedication that many of the professors have shown here, so I feel like being here is a smart choice that will help me grow to be a better person.

When you step off campus what do you see?
Honestly, there isn't much to this city outside of the campus. There are a few bars, but the locals can be a bit creepy sometimes.
The area is starting to see some growth however, with the new frozen yogurt place, clothing store, and a couple of other small businesses coming into the area.
Right now the best bet for entertainment is to go to either Greenville or Sulphur Springs (both are 15min. away).

What are the most popular student activities/groups?
Here at Texas A&M University-Commerce, going Greek is a pretty big deal. I would say that joining one of these organizations is the most social thing a student can do here. They're usually the ones that host events on campus, or have their own parties, etc.
Living in the dorms is also a great experience for students, because it gives you a chance to experience living with someone from a completely different background than your own. Often times, your roommate can become one of your best friends, but you have to communicate with each other.
