As a current student at BMCC, my experience has been positive overall, with a few areas for growth. On the positive side, the school is highly accessible, my professors are dedicated to ensuring I understand the material, and they go out of their way to help me succeed. My classmates are also supportive, and we often collaborate to complete assignments on time. However, one aspect I feel could improve is the institution's understanding and flexibility for students balancing full-time jobs, parenting, or needing extra time to fully grasp the curriculum. A greater emphasis on compassion for these challenges would enhance the experience for many of us pursuing our education while managing other responsibilities.

My name is Jamal Rymer, and I am going to tell you about my experience at Borrow of Manhattan Community College. Right now I am currently a senior and I am graduating this semester and I have had a get experience at this college. All of the students and staff are well coming and the professors really wants to help you. For example, if you need more time for a reach project or to do a report or paper they will accommodate you. Also, i you have trouble understand certain topic in your major the professor will stay back after class and explain it more to you to help you understand the information. For example, my major in the college is accounting and finance and multiple time I could not grasp some of the accounting topics, but the professors help me solve that problem . They would stay after class and help me, or the would tell me to come to their office hours and they would help me then. With All of my professors help I have a 3.5 GPA and I am moving towards a 4.0. also Borrow of Manhattan Community College Accommodates all student with disabilities in a great way. For example, I am a blind student and the office of accessibilities speaks to my professors before classes even starts to let them know how to support me in the class for I can have the y what I need for success. Every professor speaks out everything the write on the board, or reads out every slide for I can know exactly what is being shown on the board. They even describe the pictures and images for me. The college even has accessible technology such as Jaws and narrator that reads the computer screens for I can use all the laptops and computers in the college. They even have braille. When it comes to accommodating student with disabilities, Borrow of Manhattan Community College is number one to me. lastly, the college have a lot of clubs and events for the students can have a real college experience. For example, the college have Halloween parties, school plays and events school retreats to help you grow as a person. in October I went on a leadership retreat with the college and I learned how be be a better leader. I also meet a lot of student that I did not know that attends the college. It was a great experience for me. That is why I rate the Borrow of Manhattan Community College a 5 on a scale of 1 to 5 to attend. If you choose to go to this college you will not be disappointed.

It is an amazing place to build a good career plan. Highly recommend.

Cora - 11/03/2024

BMCC has a good location in the heart of Manhattan. It's accessible, affordable, and overall a good option. I have had some trouble with a professor in particular and the structure of their class, but that is not reflective of the school and the other amazing professors as a whole.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back in time and give myself advice when I was a high school senior, I would tell myself the importance of self discipline, time management and organization. It is important to keep track of important things such as due dates for assignments, school documents or registrations. I would suggest to be organized of each classes' homeworks, papers and readings. I should also create a method where I will use it to keep track of assignments and when they're due. Getting work done on time or even ahead of time is a key to do well at school. Self discipline is also just as important as timing and organization. If I have self discipline, I can then have time management and organization. Self discipline will stop me from procrastinating or not completing assignments. If I would like to succeed in doing well in school, I would develop good self discipline to keep me on track. By following these, doing well in school will be easier for me.

  3. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing about this school however is the time. When it comes to academics, time is money. Everything has to be done ahead of time such as writing essay assignments. In my English and Sociology classes, I had learned it is best to complete and submit the essays far ahead of time because the last minute situations are what will mess up everything abd stress you out. All the resources at BMCC, you have to make great use of them to your own advantage, especially ahead of time. In this case, allocate more time to get things done.

  12. What kind of person should attend this school?

People should do some soul searching and get as much guidance as possible before coming to this school. Some kids seem to think that, since it's a community college they're attending, the school work won't be as difficult and they won't have to study much. I have also seen students fall asleep in class, out of sheer exaustion because some have taken an overload of classes. If one wants to attend this college, I say speak truthfully and frankly to one of the college counselors. That's what they are here for-to help.
