I am currently an on-campus, first-year student at Earlham College, so clearly, it is a, for lack of better words, bizarre time to begin a college experience. Your first year of college is something filled with so much uncertainty as is; uncertainty in regards to social life, academics, meal-plans, dorm rooms- just about everything that falls into the “college experience” is foreign. All of this is exacerbated amidst a global pandemic, yet what is remarkable about Earlham is that somehow, I still feel like I am integrated into the school’s community. There is something uniquely embracing about Earlham; this is one of the primary reasons I chose to attend this school. When I first toured here, before the pandemic, I was struck by how students, faculty, classes, and social life, among other things, are all interwoven to create a truly enriching environment. At Earlham, there exists a school culture in which academics, socialization, exploration, independence, collaboration, challenge, and comfort allow for growth and a thriving community. Once I realized that I would be entering Earlham college with COVID-19 still very much a relevant issue, I feared that it would not be feasible for such a community to continue, let alone for me to acclimate to it. Thankfully, and seemingly miraculously, this has not been the case. Although there are undoubtedly limitations imposed by the pandemic, the school has managed to continue fostering a sense of community while also managing to operate in a manner that prioritizes the said community’s safety. All of this goes to say that already within just one semester of being a student here, Earlham has earned a very special place in my heart. It has provided me with a vibrant community in a time that feels unprecedentedly isolating; something which holds inexpressible value. My educational and social experiences here are intertwined so that I am able to learn, challenge myself, grow, and thrive. Amidst the chaos associated with college-life and life in general, Earlham has provided me, and all of its students, with a warm and embracing home- something that all colleges should strive to achieve.

Earlham College is the school you want to go to for a caring professor and at your own pace education. Everyone is so helpful and there are many resources that are provided for you. From financial aid to the writing center, there is also tutoring and many office hours from the professors. It also has many different clubs and extracurriculars. These clubs vary and lead to many activities and entertainment. There are even many places where you can study. Our new Science building is quite modern with dry erase tables and projectors. It also has many study rooms which are perfect for all of us to do homework and study. There are also many programs and opportunities like EPIC. Where you are given the opportunity to explore a big travel and everything is provided for you in order to do research. It can lead you to discover your career opportunity you would like. The programs that are offered as well for first generation students are also very helpful like LIFT. It is a big resource to get informed on more of what you can get from our college. It gives you tips and many other resources for first generation students who feel lost or are having trouble. Overall Earlham College will always provide help and support for everybody to succeed. Earlham College is the place to be with friendly people and lots to do for your upcoming 4 years of college that you will not want to miss out on.

It is a very nice college did the virtual tour of it and it looks very nice and I hope that I can go there to learn art education so I can be an art teacher.

I love this college so much!! However, this school does have its weaknesses and it's not a school for everyone. This is not a place for people big on sports or those who wish to experience Greek life. That being said, I don't believe that you'd find a more welcoming, diverse, and warm environment. There's definitely room for improvement, but the students have such an active role in doing things, and that continually inspires me to do better myself.
