As the fall semester winds down, you might be wondering what you should do over the winter break. Many of you will probably head home to visit
family or pick up a job to help earn a few extra bucks for the next semester. Although these are both sound ideas, why not spice things up a bit and have a little fun? You only have a few short weeks before it’s back to hitting the
books and your brain could probably use the break. Taking even a short vacation can do wonders for your mental state and who knows, you might even create a few memories along the way. You don’t need a ton of cash, either, as there are plenty of awesome getaways to fit anyone’s budget. Don’t believe me? Check out these fun and inexpensive trips that are perfect for any
college student.
1. Hit the Slopes
If skiing is your passion,
College Snowfest is for you! For only $299, you can spend five glorious nights at Sugar Loaf. The price includes lodging, five days of lift tickets and access to four nights of parties. If you can’t stay for the week, no problem! Students can book one night of lodging and skiing for only $70 or just ski for the day at only $39 a person. While you are there, be sure to check out the
zip line too!
2. Set Sail
Now is a great time to book a cruise. You can actually set sail for the Bahamas for as little as $99 a person. Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas leaves Miami on December 14 for three (3) nights with stops in Coco Cay and Nassau. Want a longer trip? Check out Norwegian’s Jewel leaving from New York City on December 16. This seven-night cruise visits Port Canaveral, Florida and the Bahamas for only $379 per person. You can find all these deals and more at
vacationstogo.com! Be sure to check out the 90-day ticker for the best prices.
3. Try Your Luck
If you don’t have the time for an extended trip, why not hit the Las Vegas strip for a weekend? Grab a friend or two, enjoy some shows, and try not to re-enact The Hangover! You can find some great deals on
Expedia.com, staring around $170 per person. The price includes a hotel for two nights and airfare (San Francisco). If you are within driving range, you can even snag a
hotel for as little as $30 a night. Prices will vary, depending upon your city of departure and when you book, but rates are great right now.
4. Take a Road Trip
Whether you want to go cross-country or just discover some hidden gems close to home, a road trip is a great way to bond with new friends. Simply set a budget and map out your destinations. For those of you who love to eat, I highly recommend creating a
foodie road trip, stopping by some of the mouthwatering spots featured on Man v. Food or Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.
Regardless of whether you get away for a day or a week, it’s always nice to recharge your batteries. Try to find some time this holiday season to treat yourself to some fun. Your brain will thank you for it.
