Wofford College has a beautiful campus with great dorms and gorgeous buildings. The campus’ residential feelings allow you to feel safe and the food is easily accessible with its multiple dinning halls. Along with its large Greek participants, there is always community to be had at wofford

I’m very excited to pursue my education at Wofford College. My visit was great and I love the campus so much. I have a very favorable opinion of Wofford and I’ve heard great things from others about it. The students I know from Wofford are really great people to be around. I’m very excited to go to Wofford in the fall!

Caroline - 04/03/2020

Wofford College in my opinion is one of the most prestigious schools to attend. With this being said, campus life, the professors, and all faculty are extremely outstanding. They will do anything in their power to help you succeed. My overall opinion of Wofford is a school who loves each and every student, and staff member. It is a place and a people you can rely on for the rest of your life.

Latavia - 03/27/2020

Overall Wofford is a pretty good school. The dorms are nice and the rooms are bigger than most others that I have seen. Our main dining hall (Burwell) usually has a pretty good variety of food but even if they don't we have other options for eating on campus such as Chick-fil-A and Boar's Head. The only thing that may be off putting is the fact there isn't a lot of minority students and as a minority myself (African-American) it took some getting used to. Luckily there are things like the Wofford Women of Color to help with that and other clubs for minority groups such as the LBGTQ+ community (LBGTerriers).

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Finding the right college is an intense process, full of trial and error, joy, pain, and stress. All too often we lose focus on what is most important in selecting the right home for our future in higher education. Find a place where you can be yourself. Transitioning to college will be one of the most difficult tasks you undertake, and placing yourself in an environment where you dont feel comfortable will ultimately lead to failure. Don't jump at the first college that makes you an offer, wait till you find the right one. The one that clicks. The college that makes you feel like you. When you find a place like that, it wont just be a school, it will be your home.

  4. What is your overall opinion of this school?

Wofford has truly been a life-altering experience for me. I knew the moment I stepped on campus for the first time there was something special about Wofford. It was the first campus I looked at and 21 visits later I decided to join the Wofford class of 2012. I like to say I set the bar high and no one else compared. I feel that Wofford is the perfect size, with around 1300 students you never meet a stranger, and however you make new friends all the time. Many people who are leaving home are worried about attending a "suitcase campus" meaning everyone goes home on the weekends, this is not the case for Wofford. The weekends are an important part of Wofford life. There are football games, Greek parties, and W.A.C (Wofford Activities Council) events. There is never a dull moment on campus, from Saturday at a football game to Boys Bid Day there are not words to describe everything that makes Wofford, well Wofford. Wofford is my home away from home!

  6. Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

To some extent the stereotype is accurate. The student body is compiled of preppy and intelligent students. We are know for wearing dresses and pearls or shirt and tie to football games, however, the Wofford campus is diverse and anytype of personality is accepted. It is good to consider the fact that Wofford is one of the most conservative schools in the South.

  7. What are the academics like at your school?

Wofford is known for being an academically challenging school. We are grouped with some of the finest schools in the South including Vanderbilt, Davidson, Wake Forest, and Furman. This year the Princeton review ranked Wofford as the best school in South Carolina. The advantage of going to a small, liberal arts school is that in order to graduate you are required to take a variety of classes which enables you to be sure of your major choice. Statistically at Wofford you are going to graduate in 4 years (It could take 5 years if you triple major and go abroad twice). Another great thing about a Wofford education is that Wofford only has an under-graduate program, which means the professor are focused on teaching and all classes are taught by professors, no graduate assistants. The professors are very accessible; in fact I have had dinner at my government professor’s house numerous times. Classes are small averaging about 20 students, so you have an opportunity to get to know you professor and classmates. Wofford is known for its pre-professional programs and is ranked very well for its Pre-Professional programs (Pre-Med, Pre-Law etc.). A good number of students continue their education at some of the top grad schools in the country.

  8. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Greek life is the most prevalent organization on campus. This year the Princton Review ranked Wofford's Greek life as the top Greek program in the nation. Being an active member of Wofford's Greek life myself, I felt honored to be a part of such a great program. Most people assume Greek life is all about parties, but I have come to learn it is much more than that at Wofford. Campus is nearly 65{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} Greek and most of the other prominent organizations are run by elected Greeks. The Campus Union President is Greek as is the W.A.C. (Wofford Activities Council, the Social Committee of Campus Union) President and two of the Wofford Ambassador Coordinators. Being Greek at Wofford is bigger than parties, its establishing life-long friends, while learning leadership and communication skills. If being Greek is not an intrest of yours, however there are plenty of other groups to get involved in. There are way too many for me to list, so if you want a full list check of Wofford's webpage at www.wofford.edu. Wofford has introduced me to so many facinating new people. Campus is very safe and most people leave their dorm rooms open. There are always events planned on Campus so you never run out of things to do.

  10. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Well, the samll size can be the best and the worst thing at the same time. On one hand, its advantage to students is a greater connection to the professors and classmates and a greater learning opportunity but on the other hand, sometimes people get really frustrated from seeing each other constantly.

  13. What's unique about your campus?

The best thing about Wofford College is how personal everything is. The instructors care about their students as individuals with different learning styles and speeds of comprehension. The professors at Wofford are there to teach undergraduate students, not to do research. "Personal" also describes other areas of Wofford life. The lunch ladies know every student by name, campus safety officers wave to you, and having dinner at a professor's house is common. The faculty and staff at Wofford are passionate about helping students to succeed, and the effects of their efforts are visable on the close-knit student body

Wofford students are so helpful and it's so easy to make friends, that I really don't think anyone needs much information before applying! I didn't know anything about the school. and it's worked out perfect for me! Make sure you go out and extend your comfort zone and meet people as soon as you arrive on campus!

  15. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing about my school is the cost of tuition. My school, Wofford College, is very expensive. They offered me financial aid, but it wasn't nearly enough to pay for all of my tuition. Also, it seems like all the money we are paying is going to waste. Some of the dorms are repulsive and our dining services are not up to par. Wofford College is a great institution, but they need to invest our money more wisely.

  16. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

Wofford's dorms are awesome. Most people live on campus all for years and only during freshman year do you share one large room with someone. After that you get your own little bedroom and share a living room area.
