What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would go back and tell myself that although this first year at a community college is going to be extremely easy you still need to put forth major effort to build good habits for the university life. I would have told myself that I need to try my hardest to soak up every little bit of information so that I can apply it tenfold upon transferring to a bigger school the year after.

I wish that I would have known more about the numerous oppertunities Wharton County Junior College gives each of its students without having anything to do with race, religion, or geneder because this university treats all students with respect and equality.

What's unique about your campus?
The best thing that I consider about my school is that they help students achieve their Dreams. They are number one school to help community college students succeed (earn degrees, earn certificates or transfer to other institutions to continue their studies). They are particularly concerned about student success, and have faced the most significant barriers to success, including low-income students and students of color. My school also participate in college research at community colleges; public policy work; and outreach to communities, businesses and the public. My school initiative also includes advocating public policies such as policies to improve states.

Wharton County Junior College is not a university, but more like a threshold where a student can begin the many steps needed to find or pursue a degree to obtain the ultimate goal of a career and it is also like a home where you are welcomed with open arms and given helpful advice from people who want you to succeed in life.

Describe your favorite campus traditions.
I would WCJC is best known for being a college that can help you maintain a good enough GPA in order to transfer to a good university. They have several programs and the one I'm very aware of is their nursing program.

What are the academics like at your school?
My favorite class is my U.S History class, my professor is so interesting and easily relatable to students. I always leave class wanting to hear more. Students are interested and enjoy participating in class lectures. I am majoring in AA Business degree and plan on getting my bachelors degree.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?
I am new to the school, so I haven't joined any clubs yet, but I have seen a wide variety from athletics to drama. Most students are single so you mainly see large groups of friends. Students who attend wharton aren't here to party, many have to work and attend classes.I work 30 hours a week when I am not in class. Most weekends I stay busy at my job and studying for my classes.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I'm not sure about stereotypes. Maybe just lazy, good-for-nothings? Obviously not true at all, students may not be the most enthusiastic, but I believe it's just the overall setting that sets the mood.

What kind of person should not attend this school?
The kind of persons that shouldn't attend this school are the lazy student whom are not ready to work hard. For example, those student that does not sow but they want to reap where they did not sow. Any student that is immune to plagiarizing, cheating, lying or making statements misrepresenting the truth or that is a subject to severe disciplinary action. person which may have been in dismissal from the previous schools. Any student exhibiting behavior, which suggests impaired judgment for any reason. Student or individuals who has impairment related to drugs (including prescription medications) and/or alcohol.

What is your overall opinion of this school?
Wharton County Junior College has a great team of professors and staff members. Everyone is so helpful during the registration process. All my professors have been helpful and interested in their subjects they teach. My only complaint is there is not enough student parking.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
It is much cheaper going to a junior college for your first two years than a four year university.
