Westminster College-Salt Lake City Top Questions

I am in the professional program, so my projects are often complex and interesting. It is always fun to meet with other students to discuss projects and find out the various ways each is approaching it. Our professors are very helpful, and will often go above and beyond to help you, if you ask for it. The education provided will help you find a career and flourish in it.

Buildings and resources are excellent for the size of the school. The academic requirements help you prepare and choose a major that you want to pursue. All professors I've ever had have known my name and something about me. Most unique class was 'sex and the brain'. Often times, there is a ton of intellectual conversation outside of class.

I believe most of my professors know my name. The have taught me and challenged me. I like attending class as much as one could. I know in most of my classes I will learn and not just be sitting there and wasting my time. They have a wonderful math tutoring cnter as well as SI sessions that have helped me in my classes. I believe that I am learning here, and when needed I can apply it to real life or translate it to a job. Classes are for learning and challengeing yourself.

Some professors are good, others terrible. They're never there at their office hours, most make it difficult to believe they are professors and what their credentials are.

My biggest class had 28 people in it. all of my professors know me on a first name basis and would be more than willing to help me with job hunting, paper writing etc. a lot of hands on work in most of the classes, also a lot of group work

The professors at Westminster are the best I've seen at this level. This is particularly surprising becuase I've noticed that they're not usually as well educated as professors I've had at other schools. Westminster seems to hire passionate instructors who want to become involved with the students and share their knowledge and experience in a manner that will really effect students rather than just teaching because it pays their bills and allows them to research or write. So far, the only complaint I have is that occasionally instructors veer off of the subject they've been assigned to teach because, and the class turns into a discussion of social activities, politics, etc. because of the small class size.

Westminster College has very small, intimate classes. All of my professors know me by my first name. I would be strange if they didn't. My learning community was so amazing. My class became a family - every day, we would have very good discussions and debates. I felt very comfortable and happy in that class, even though it was quite difficult. I was in the music and English community. Students here focus on their studies, but they also know how to have a good time. When I was deciding on which college, I had the idea that because it was in Utah, it wouldn't be a party school at all, but there are a good amount of kids who go out on the weekends. Westminster gears towards developing a broad horizon in every student. We have a great business and nursing school. I'm currently in Computer Science which is a very small program here. There are only three teachers total in this major. Already, when scheduling for spring semester, I have to take two classes for my major and there is only one time available for that class. I will get to know all the other computer science majors real quickly, and I'll be one of the only girls in the entire program.

Classes are small and intimiate, the professors actually know the names of the students in their classes. The learning experience is very unique and geared to prepare students for life after graduation. Westminster also has a "May Term" a month-long term during which students can take some very interesting and unusual classes covering topics like ghosts/monsters, brewing, baseball and more. Personally, I also love the theatre department.
