Western Nevada College is an acceptable college that I am very grateful to be in. It has amazing learning opportunities and it is a school that provides support to their students. The professors are exceptional at their jobs and always available. It is an amazing school to attend and the class sizes are small so it is very personal to each student.

I do jump start through the high school so I think it is great the professors come to the high school so that we can get college credits. I will be graduating high school with a year of college complete, which I have not been able to find at any other college.

Allie - 12/17/2019

I think that Western Nevada College is a great school. All of the teachers there are always there to help you whether or not it's 6 o'clock at night or 12 pm on the weekend. The teachers are super supportive and great at their jobs. The school is very nice as well. All of the buildings on campus are very nice!

At the present time, I have only attended online WNC classes, but that is enough to definitely conclude that WNC is a great community college! I plan to eventually move on to the University of Nevada-Reno, but this community college was a great place to start getting to know what college is really like: more rigorous academics, but enjoyable class content as well. I have visited the campus on a few occasions, and those few visits were very pleasant as well. If you want to kick off your college experience, then WNC is for you!

Western Nevada College FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Western Nevada College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Western Nevada College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

In retrospect, it is extremely predictable that someone as naieve as a highschool student would lose all inhibition to achieve in order to gain a false sense of acceptance. It begins once you enter the coveted lifestyle of a highschool student and will end the moment you cross the threshold of commencement. If given the chance to advise an 18 year old me, I would simply state that it is better to excel in front of judgemental peers than be viewed inadequate by the admissions office of the only college you wanted to attend. I will not claim to have done poorly in the college I ended up attending, having had a 3.3 GPA and making the deans list 3 semesters in a row. But I know that if I had only seen past the facade of a teenage angst a little sooner, I would have found myself in a much more prestigious school than the one I attend now. If I could give advice to myself as a senior; I would tell myself that I am worth much more than an invite to homecoming and would make sure to remember the exact day of the PSAT's.

  9. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

I brag about the teachers and the availability of classes. The teachers, due to the low student to teacher ratio, have the availability to give individuals the assistance they need, and are also able to answer questions during lecture. This is usually the case in a lecture hall with 100 plus students found at a university. The availability of classes is simply amazing because there is more than one campus a person can go to, as well as the option to take an on-line class.

I'm not sure if a bigger colllege would have that so called customer service a smaller college may have.
