What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Know that everything will work out and be okay! That you need to concentrate on your academics but don't forget to have fun every once in awhile, but make sure to do your homework first! College is meant to be fun but you are here to learn and to get a degree. Look at all your different degree options that the school offers and look into all of them, instead of just deciding your major right of the bat. But look into all the different majors and take the introduction classes to them, and when you decide a major, you need to stick with it. Don't just sit and take fun classes but take that classes and generals that you need so your not wasting your money. Lastly, get involved, get involved with the school as much as you can. Go to sporting events, make lots of friends, go to on campus activities, and dances! Just get involved in anyway that you can! College is meant to be fun!

What's unique about your campus?
There is no way to narrow down Utah State into one best thing. There is such a broad range and endless amount of opportunity! Diversity and originality flourish! The best thing about Utah State University is that there is such a wonderful place as Utah State University!

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
Well, being Music Therapy Major. I wish I had known that they don't offer academic scholarships to students unless they are Freshman or Transfer Students, because although, I am a high honor college student, I do not recieve any financial support from this school. I would have applied for more private scholarships. I also would have liked to know more of the intensity and level of classes I would need to take for whatever was my major of interest. That way I could have prepared more in advance for my college courses.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
My school honestly feels like a family. This is a campus that you can ask anyone you see a question and they will go out of their way to help you. I feel that if I am struggling, I can find someone for help and they do not put me down for not understanding. The staff is very reliable, and will call you back or responde to your email usually in a couple hours. We are a smoke free campus and I do not know anyone that drinks. We are focused on our education here and helping each other succeed.

Describe your favorite campus traditions.
Utah State University is best known for its research. While I haven't yet gotten the chance to participate in research here, I have heard many good things. USU has sent more experiments into space than any other nation in the world! Right now USU is helping with the renovation of Gorongosa National Park as well. USU also has the second oldest undergraduate research program in the nation, next to M.I.T.

What is your overall opinion of this school?
I absolutely love the location of Utah State University. It is in a smaller city, so you get more of that "small town" feel. The people of the community are very kind and it really is just a cute town. It is great for people who enjoy the outdoors. Bear Lake is less than an hour away, and on the way there are plenty of great hikes, campsites, and a ski resort. Not to mention natural hot springs, and national parks all within a 2 hour drive. And if you are looking for a "big city", Salt Lake City is only an hour and a half away!
The size of the school is just right. The campus is pretty small, but in a good way! It only takes about 15 minutes to walk from one side to the other. The library is phenomenal! It's very modern and bright, the same atmosphere is felt throughout the whole campus. It doesn't have that old, dingy, 50's-70's feel that a lot of schools in this area have.
The school pride of Utah State is out the wahzoo! Next to Duke, we are known for having the craziest, most pumped fans. Going to games of all sports is a blast, but I prefer the basketball games because they are the loudest, and some of our best cheers happen there!
One thing I would change is the technology system. Utah State has been trying to update and renovate it's system, but it still has a few flaws. I'm sure they will be breaking through these within the next few years.
I love the classes. I feel comfortable. I feel like I am able to excel, yet I am still pushed by others to become better. I have a very good experiences with all of my professors and many of the programs a very highly ranked in the United States.
There is also a high population of international students. This is one of the reasons why I chose this school. I love that atmosphere and the diversity of Utah State. It's more diverse than other schools in Utah, and I love it!

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I don't notice stereotyping very often here at Utah State. I do know that the Mormon religion is very dominant. This is the only stereotype I have seen. I am not Mormon, and I have not had any problems fitting in. This school is very friendly and welcomes a variety of people.

What are the academics like at your school?
Since it is a smaller university, there is more opportunity to have a personal experience with the professors. Even in the freshmen courses, there's only a maximum of 300 students, and most are well under 200. My professors know me by name, and I feel like more than just another student to them. The student body is a great balance of competitive and easy going. We work hard and play hard!
I am a marketing student and absolutely LOVE it! It fits me like a glove. The business school is a great department. They work hard with us, and help us learn great business techniques that we wouldn't usually think to learn. There is always plenty of help for resumes, internships, and post graduation. I spend more of my time in the business building than I do my apartment (partially because I work in the computer lab there). But the Huntsman School of Business is one of the many reasons why I chose this school. I actually hadn't even looked at this school until about a month before I started my freshmen year, and I got in, found an apartment, and got into all the classes I needed!

What are the most popular student activities/groups?
Aggie Basketball is one of the most popular activity on campus! The spectrum is one of the best places to be. Cache valley has many activity that are offered. The university is always having some sort of activity everyday, so you can easily find one that will meet your interests.
