I really enjoy being a student at UW. The classes are much smaller than some of the other universities and the teachers are much more accessible and show that they care about the students.

I'm in the engineering department and the atmosphere isn't really good. Professors in my department don;t even care about their students and are busy with their own research. They have a condescending attitude towards every student. We have couple of professors from Stanford, who consider every single person in the department an idiot.
For example, the professors in our department have a 30 minutes per week maximum time to meet students, which is ridiculous compared to the professors in other departments , who know their students very well.
Oh and also, the department doesn't have resources to teach the ridiculous amount of students they have enrolled, even the students with a GPA of 2.0.
This has resulted int he industry considering every student in the department to be an idiot, even the ones with a 3.8 GPA. oh also, adding that the number of companies that have been showing up for job fairs is exponentially going down. Even Montana tech is better than UW

I love this college. One thing that I like is that it is close to home, which is nice. But even then, this campus is definitely pretty. The landscape and the artwork displayed all around campus is gorgeous. Also, Laramie is definitely a college town. You've got Walmart, Hastings, lots of restaurants, Albertson's, Safeway, Starbucks... everything you could ever need!

The University of Wyoming provides a unique one-on-one atmosphere between students and staff that makes learning more efficient and gratifying. Moreover, classroom sizes are not exceedingly big or inconvenient for students. Hence, making appointments with professors during or after their scheduled office hours is advantageous to students, due to professors having less grading and more time for students. Likewise, the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable, which can be a valuable resource to students. Additionally, the size of the campus is not too big or too small, but just right, due to everything being in walking distance. Furthermore, the university provides a wide range of services including access to tutors, writing centers, sporting events, various types of transportation, multiple libraries, Registered Student Organizations, and fun activities throughout the week and on weekends. Also, this university is known for its school pride and attendance at sporting events, so there is never a dull moment. Nevertheless, UW is located in a small college town called Laramie, Wyoming, which has an elevation of 7, 200 feet, so this is a mile high university. Therefore, expect lots of wind and cold weather in the winter time. Nonetheless, this is an outdoor enthusiast paradise and many recreational activities are provided throughout the year. Remarkably, this university is also ranked fairly well in the nation and is affordable to most students. Overall, I would recommend this university to students that are looking for something new and exciting away from city life.

Coming from a small town I was worried about going off to college by myself in a large city. The great thing about the University of Wyoming is that it is based in a small town. The community supports the University and as a college student, the community is welcoming and comfortable. It was easy to feel at home in my home away from home.
The University is also great because you get the Division I experience with a smaller population. With a small population, the crime is low so I always feel safe on campus and in town.
Furthermore, the school has a lot of pride. Surrounded by pride, I am proud to be a student at the University of Wyoming. At athletic games the crowd supports are teams, win or lose. If your a Wyoming fan, people will high five you or start a conversation just because you have something in common.
Overall, I have had a positive experience at the University of Wyoming and I'm always telling high school students that they need to check it out.

Even though some people might look at this as a negative, I love the fact that the University of Wyoming is pretty small. On campus, everybody almost knows everybody else. It's quiet and peaceful for the most part. Unlike some cities that just happen to have a college, the University of Wyoming is a college that happens to have a town. The locals do a very good job of supporting the University in every way they can.
People in Wyoming are very proud of their state and doing things their way, so with this being the only 4 year college, there is a lot of school pride also. The students don't universally show that spirit at the sporting events like at other places, but those that do attend are among the most rabid fans in the nation.
There really is no reason not to go to Wyoming though because it is cheap. If you're from Wyoming, you can almost get all of your schooling paid for, and if you're not from Wyoming, the non-resident tuition is still lower than many of the schools where you're from.

Choosing the University of Wyoming for me was a very difficult decision, but one I would not change for the world. My dad went there and the pressure he exerted on me was insurmountable. I finally gave in and was hesitant about it at first. But now I could not be more proud of my decision, my school, friends, and the good ol cowboy Joe. The school pride is the best of anywhere I have seen, and everyone uses our common thread, being "pokes" to bond together; one united front as we face other schools.

UW is a great school, which will challenge students academically.

I chose Wyoming for the location and the size. It is small enought to not feel insignificant, but it is large enough for it to not feel like a liberal arts college. Wyoming is a great place for geology because it is a geologically active area. The student to faculty ratio was so high at the surounding schools like Boulder and CSU that I chose Wyoming because of the 10:1 student to faculty average ratio.
