University of the Pacific Top Questions

They make my college experience so much more memorable.

Pacific is a non denominational Methodist University. But you do not have to practice this religion, you do not have to practice any religion for that matter. However, as part of being a non denominational university you will have to take a religion course. I decided to take Judaism to fulfill this requirement, and I learned about this religion. Pacific's demographics consist of mainly Caucasians and Pacific Islanders. However the Latino/Hispanic population is slowly climbing. We are currently at 14{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} compared to when I arrived in Fall of 2004 when it was only 6{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c}. So even with this unevenness in demographics, this is a highly respectable institution and discrimination of race, sexual preference, age, disability is not practiced or tolerated. Most of the students here receive some form of financial aid, some more than others, which all depends on their financial background. But because this university has a higher tuition rate, you receive more aid.

My classmates are smart, friendly, and entertaining; we have a lot of fun together because we are all so different and we love bouncing ideas and opinions off each other.

All types of groups are welcomed on campus. I think a student who does not want to/like to get involved will feel left out. Students at Pacific are not only involved with academics but with at least one other club. There are all sorts of clubs, from the super organized Pride Club (LGBT) to the Running Club, which just gets a group of people together to go running. Most Pacific students come from California, though they are from all over the state. There are a lot of international students from Asia, Europe and South America.

The classmates I have are very lively and want to help each other in order to succed in the class.

They were mostly upper middle class or wealthy white students.

Classmates are bright people, able to achieve well in class. Many know what career path they want to take and are driven towards acheiving it. Many people also fit the other category and quickly realize that this school or career isn't ment for them because it is such a career-driven school.

Work hard during the weekdays, party on the weekends.
