Montevallo is best known as a liberal college, but is well known for the education and business departments.

My school is known for being the only public liberal arts school within the state of Alabama.

The University of Montevallo is best known for our homecoming celebration of college night. We do not have a football team so the student body chooses a side: purplle side, gold side, or green side (neutral side). Both purple and gold side write, direct, and perform their own productions in February. The week this is done is our "homecoming week" and either gold side or purple side wins. There are pep rallys and sporting events that both sides compete in as well. This tradition is what makes my school unique and it's truly a great experience.

The longest standing Homecoming tradition in the United States: College Night. The campus splits into two sides and compete between multiple sports and two shows. It gets the entire campus involved and it's an intense environment!

Its fine arts such as music and/or theatre.

The University of Montevallo is home of the College Night. College Night is not just one night but many nights in Janurary and Feburary. College Nights consist of the universities students choosing Gold side or Purple side, depending on where they will feel at home, and each of the sides compete in a series of sportting events as well as a huge production created by only the students. This big event is a well known event and featured in many news articles and news shows. College Night is an exciting event that unites the students of the University of Montevallo.

The beautiful thing about The University of Montevallo is that it is known for a variety of reasons. Along with cobblestone streets and poltergeists, Montevallo is best known for our lack of a football team. Instead of Homecoming, we have a college night that splits the whole campus into two sides that compete in several facets of student interest including sports and theater. The best part of college night is that literally any student can get involved; it is a perfect way to make friends and fall in love with the Montevallo family.
