Describe the students at University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

Maggie

My classmates were very outspoken, condescending, and rarely showered.

Nicole

They are not extremely diverse.

Charlotte

My classmates vary greatly; from very involved to seldom involved, to brillant, to mediocre, to driven, to apathetic, and overall, gives me a great variety of people to work with and meet.

Tyler

I'm in the Honors program, and my classmates are similar to me - engaged in learning, interested in studying, and focused on academics.

Erin

There are a lot of wealthier suburb-type people, but there is also a good mix of people from other states and even other countries. It's pretty diverse. As long as you don't corner yourself, you have the opportunity to meet people that are very different from you. Some of those people have turned into my best friends.

The U of M is decidedly more liberal. When voting in the straw polls the Democrats got Coffman Union and the Republicans had Ford Hall. Ford hall is decidedly smaller. The university has roughly a 20{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} minority population. There are Lao, Hmong, Ethiopian and you name it we probably have it for student associations. This groups are open to all races but consist of only the race they represent. As a multi-racial student I felt very comfortable here. I know students of every race, sexual and religious orientation imaginable and they seem as at home here as I do. There are tons of international students. They are all really fun upbeat people to hang with. Most of them seem to be engineers and they all seem to play soccer, go figure.

Andrew

I have never been discriminated against or anything like that. There is such a broad spectrum of people at Minnesota that everyone can find some place where they fit in and can be themselves. Most students are either from Minnesota (obviously) or Wisconsin, so that leads to some good-natured banter back and forth, but it is all in good fun.

Jamie

There are so many different people on campus. It's wonderful to get to know so many different people and see how they're all connected.

Sarah

I love the diversity of the student body. There are many students and you can always find someone you like and get along with. I meet new students every semester. Overall, I would say the campus is very open to diversity and people from different backgrounds. There are many student groups for students of different ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and political views. There are some days where I won't run into anyone I know on campus, which can make it a little lonely. On the other hand, it's also nice to not have to see anyone if you don't want to.

Kevin

We have such a huge student body that it would be impossible to feel out of place. We are so diverse and there are many student groups on campus. I would have to say that the majority of the student body is Caucasian, but hey, we're in the midwest, what else would you expect? Everybody that I have come in contact with seem to be really awesome, except for the greeks of course. I'm just not a fan of fraternities. I'm too laid back for that kind of scene and I have not found any frat guy who I would hang out with. Most of the students here are predominately democratic. We are also excited about a new president to bring about change. At the democratic vote in my district this year Obama beat Clinton 481-8 (or something to that amount). And one more thing, Carlson kids are douche bags. Just look it up on urbandictionary.com
