University of Kentucky Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about University of Kentucky? Why?

Jessica

The worst thing about UK is the parking situation. The main parking lot is a mile from classes with busses running to and from campus for only a fraction of the day. It's very inconveneint to come to campus if you live off campus. A parking pass also costs $268 even when they closest you can park is a mile away.

I wouldnt say that there is a worst thing about the school except that some if the classes can be a bit o erwhelmingly big. I particularly like smaller classes where there is more a connection with the professor but alot of classes here are very large with hundreds of strudents. So you get the feeling that some of the professors arent really passionate about the student actually learning the material rather than regurgitating text.

The guidance from the academic advisors. Entering freshman msotly do not know what they want to do and need guidance and ways to decide what they should major in. I ended up taking many classes I never needed and was in college 5 years for a traditional 4 year degree due to confusion and lack of help scheduling the needed classes.

The worst thing, and the most expected thing, about the University of Kentucky is the size. What the welcoming team fails to mention on that first campus tour is the sheer size of the student population. UK students make up a number larger than 20,000; becoming a member of a club or organization that has 30 to 40 members doesn’t necessarily decrease that number. In addition, the standard lecture classroom seats a number from 200 to 500 students. While most professors do their best to engage the students in group work, the class size still remains enormous.

The worst thing about my school is the parking availablity. Parking spots are few and far between which makes it difficult to navigate around campus.

Kimberly

Everyone thinks that we are all Greek affiliated; yes, Greek life is huge on our campus, but there are many other activities/clubs/organizations/etc. for you to get involved with. They're not hard to find, either! There are a great deal of volunteer opportunities as well. The bonds that you can make from all of these opportunities are definitely worth looking past the Greek life that everyone thinks we revolve around. There's so much more to the campus than what meets the eye!

Elizabeth

I find that although most students are completely dedicated to their tasks, some use key class time to talk and interrupt others.

Morgan

There were time when I had to park in an unfavorable location on campus, far away from my classes.

Brandy

Greek life because people are so judgemental if you did not rush or pledge.

Sonya

The way that off-campus students and transfer students are treated.
