What is the stereotype of students at Towson University? Is this stereotype accurate?

When I was telling people I was going to school at Towson most of them would say that it was a party school and yes there are plenty of people who party here at Towson. But there are also plenty of people who do not go out to party. I have plenty of fun not going out to parties as well as going to them. The school offers plenty of activities and events to go to if you are not into the party scene. So Towson offers something for everyone so don't let what some people would say about the partying here deter you from applying.

At Towson, most people think that the girls all come from New Jersey, wear Northface jackets with leggings and Uggs and are in a sorority. Of course most people think that all the boys get drunk Sunday-Saturday, are rushing or in a frat, and spend all their time lifting weights at the gym. Also, most people think Towson is almost completely White/Caucasian. This is NOT accurate! Towson students come from every state in the U.S. as well as dozens of countries around the world. Towson has a diverse student body population, and student groups that include almost every ethnic background (i.e.: the Black Student Union, Latin American Student Organization, ect). The Greek Life organizations are a big part on campus, but there are plenty of non-Greek groups as well. We are a Division 1 school in most sports and we also have a lot of Recreation competition teams, but our marching band is one of THE best in the country and academics are a major priority. There is no "Towson mold" because every student brings something unique to campus.

I would say there is no "stereotype" at towson. There are a wide range of students on Towsons campus. Greek life is very popular, there are many invloved in TU sports, both towsons and the various club teams. There are many students from New York and New Jersey and of course Maryland.
